How to hack your PSP2000v3 and PSP3000

First you must have a PSP with OFW of 5.03.

If your PSP is below 5.03 (ex: 5.00 or below), download and update your PSP to 5.03. This is the Official 5.03 firmware from Sony.download link below.

Then download this file. It contains both chickhen mod (MHUSPEED) and the new Custom Firmware 5.03 Prometheus. download link below

To instal, extract the file you've downloaded on my link. Copy all the files and folders that has been extracted from the file you've downloaded and paste it in the root of your memory stick.

Now on your PSP, go to PHOTO and choose memory stick. Now open the folder named "mhuspeed3", browse down only up to the green picture and wait until the screen goes multi-color or just a green screen.

Note: Only stop at the GREEN picture!. Don't open it, just stop at it. Also, be fast when going to it or it will just freeze and shutdown your PSP.

It should restart after that. Now go to SYSTEM SETTINGS and choose System Information.

Check if the hack works. Just repeat if it doesn't work at first try.

NOTE: Remove any pictures saved in your memory stick or the hack will not work and also restore your PSP to default settings by going to SYSTEM SETTINGS and then choosing Restore Default Settings.

When the firmware shows "5.03 mhuspeed or whatever it was called (sorry I forgot the name xD)", go to GAME and open the application called "5.03 Prometheus" while holding L trigger.

Now in the application menu, choose Install Custom Firmware. Wait until the application said it was installed and press X to exit.

Now check again your FIRMWARE. It should be 5.03 Prometheus by now.

You're done.

[Guide] How to fix corrupted savegames

I used to have problems with corrupted files with certain firmwares *cough* Gen D3 *cough*, but with this fix, any PSP corrupted game save will be usable on ANY firmware! Well here it is, courtesy of Hoowahman:

1. Extract FreeCheat to the root of your memory card

2. Extract Said to /PSP/GAME/

3. Follow instructions on readme to install freecheat.

4. Back up your corrupted save game to computer.

5. Start the game and start to create a new saved game. Before you actually save the new game to the memory stick you should press the note key which will bring up the freecheat console. We need to tell freecheat to go into dump memory mode so when you save the new game it creates the files we need. On the freecheat console go to Mem Manager » SAVEDATE Manager » Operate Mode » Dump. Now hit X to back out to where you can confirm to save the game. Save the game to the memory card.

6. Now exit the game and enable USB to browse your memory stick and go to /FreeCheat/SAVEDATA/ and you will see 2 files. I have:
ULJM-05500.key and ULJM-05500_0.sav
You only need to rename the ULJM-05500.key file to ULJM05500.bin removing the "-" and renaming extention to .bin. Copy this file into /PSP/GAME/Said/gamekey directory on the memory stick.

7. Backup the new save game that you created from /PSP/SAVEDATA/ to your computer for later.

8. Copy your corrupted save game from computer back to /PSP/SAVEDATA/

9. Run Said and it will load a list of save games you have. Press /\ (Triangle) on your corrupted save game and press O on the top option. Then select "Yes" and hit O again to decrypt your corrupted save game to a .bin file on the root of the card. Mine is called: ULJM005500.bin

10. Now copy your new saved game you backed up on the computer back to the /PSP/SAVEDATA/ directory. The directory of the saved game should match the name of the .bin file you just created. If it doesn't rename the .bin file to match it.

11. Load up Said again and find the new saved game and Press /\ (Triangle) to bring up the options and select the 2nd one down from the top and press O and select "Yes" and press O again. This will encrypt the .bin file you just created into the new saved game which is the old corrupted saved game info!

12. Now just start up the game and load your old save game that use to be corrupted!

I'd imagine this would work for any game that is having issues because of new firmware.

it works perfectly on my PSP 3000 with 5.03 Prometheus (should work on GEN too).
finally fixed my dragonball shin budokai 2 save :)

NOTE: this is not a firmware mod. all the fixes i got before were firmware mod and somehow i got 5.03 MHU displayed in system information instead of 5.03 Prometheus/GEN by using 5.50GEN-D3/5.03GEN-C savegame fix v3

XMB Icon Manager | PSP Applications

What is this?
This plugin allows you to edit the icon name to your desire and replace options with useful things like:
Load homebrews, updates, psx games and backups, or shutdown, suspend, reboot and restart VSH.

Instructions
1. To use this plugin you need a PSP with Custom Firmware 5.XX.
2. Copy the 'seplugins' folder to the root of your Memory Stick and add this line to 'vsh.txt': 'ms0:/seplugins/xmbim.prx 1' (without the ').
3. Now, take a look in 'xmbim_config.txt'.
4. Reboot your psp and enjoy

Configuration
The configuration file of this plugin is 'xmbim_config.txt'.

* XXX = "(write the name of the icon here)".
* XXX_MODE = "(write the mode you want here)".
* XXX_FILE = "(if you want to load a file, write the path here, ms0:/...)".

XXX means the option.

These modes can be used:

* shutdown
* suspend
* reboot
* restart vsh (useful for HEN-users)
* game
* updater
* pops (psx game)
* backup (iso/cso games)

Note: Save the file in unicode format if you have any characters not supported by ASCII.

Note 2: If you use Xmb Icon Manager, it takes some seconds to load the config file, because there are much lines to read.

To reduce the load time you can remove lines in the config you do not use!

Instruction to manually apply the patch

NOTE:
(OPTIONAL) For LBA protection if so,cause some people cant make it work..
Just go to UMDGEN,Open Iso, go to FILE>FileList and select export(save as .txt) after you edit the iso..go again to FILE>FileList and select Import(the one that you save as .txt)

Steps:

1. (Extract the GVG_plus_patcher.rar that you downloaded anywhere in your desktop)

2. (Open your GVG+.iso using UMDGEN,here you can see two panels left and right,just leave it that way.)

3. (Go to where you extracted the downloaded file. Drag and Drop the PSP_GAME folder to UMDGEN (right panel),
choose "yes to all" instead of "yes" because it will overwrite only the folder not the content.)

4. Notice that the IMAGE size will decrease to 1GB+,because i remove the 500+MB dummy file and repalce it with a 1KB file)

5. Repack your ISO save it as Uncompressed *.iso file or .cso file
6. Play the Game and leave some comments x)

How to use cxmb on 5.03 GEN-A

1. First download the files and extract to desktop
2. Open the cxmb folder and then open full folder
3. Drag all the folders in that folder (if it ask you to overwrite vsh.txt don't and just open vsh.txt in seplugins and add this line ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx 1)
4. Put ctf convert.exe in theme folder and run(ctf converter is a program that converts 5.00m33 ctf files to 5.02 gen ctf file which are the only ctf files compatible with 5.03 gen-a)
5. Restart psp and boot back into HEN then into GEN-A and test

Notes:
.there is no risk of brick from what i heard
.only 5.00m33 and 5.02 gen ctf files will work
.5.00m33 ctf files must be converted to work

Creating and using 'PAR2 recovery files' to repair corrupt data

Creating and using 'PAR2 recovery files' for your files.

Ever downloaded a big RAR file and then find out that one or more parts got corrupted during the download?
Usually you would have to re-download the parts again, which can take some time on slower connection...
(and can also waste your 'download limit' if you have a connection with a download limit like I do...)

If the uploader has included some 'PAR2 recovery files' in a seperate download link, then you can fix the
corruption in the RAR file which will save you from having to re-download the entire file / part again.

This guide has been written for both uploaders and downloaders.
for Downloaders it will show you how to use the 'PAR2 recovery files' to repair your corrupted download.
for Uploaders it will show you how to make and include a 'PAR2 recovery set' for the files you upload.

Hopefully more people will start using the PAR2 standard and will save a LOT of bandwidth from re-downloading a corrupt file.
It does take a few minutes extra for the uploader to make and upload the repair files, but I think its worth it...

Software Programs that can use PAR2 files

You can download these programs by searching google for the program name.
They are all open source and are freely available for download.

For Windows Operating Systems:
QuickPAR for Windows - Can make and repair files using PAR2 files.

MacPAR deLuxe - Can make and repair files using PAR2 files and apparently extract RAR files too.

The DMG files above was downloaded on a windows computer and re-uploaded, I'm not sure if it will still work on a MAC.

Note: For MAC users who have UnrarX installed, the program seems to have a built-in PAR2 repair program:
extract the PAR2 files into the same folder as the RAR files and open the first RAR file with UnrarX.
Drag one of the PAR2 files from the repair files onto the UnrarX window and UnrarX should repair the file.

For Linux Operating Systems:
Ubuntu:

To install PAR2 on Ubuntu, open a console window and type:
sudo apt-get install par2

To start a PAR2 repair, open a console and type in:

par2 r filename.par2
--OR--
par2repair filename.par2

Quickpar should work fine with the latest version of 'WINE' if you don't want to or know how to use a command line program.
For other Linux Distros, it should be similar to the above, try searching your linux package manger for 'PAR2' or 'Parity archive'

Note: The PAR2 creation and repair guides have been written using 'QuickPAR' but it should be very similar in other programs too.

Repairing Corrupted Files with PAR2

If you get an error when extracting your RAR files and there are PAR2 repair files available for download,
you can use them to fix the corruption, If there are no 'PAR2 files' included, then you will not be able to repair the files
maybe you can ask the uploader if they still have the original RAR files they uploaded to make and upload 'PAR2 files'.

The error will usually look something like this picture below and will contain the words "Volume is corrupt" or something similar:

The repair process is pretty simple:

1) Make a new folder somewhere on your computer, the folder can be named anything you like...
2) Put ALL the rars files (even if they are not corrupted) into that folder. (You need all the RAR files in the 'par2 set' to start a repair)
3) Place the 'PAR2 files' into the same folder with the RAR files. if they are in a RAR file you will need to extract them

The uploader may have a few sets of repair RAR files, just download the first one that contains the 'index' file and a few repair blocks.
Later on, if you find that you need more blocks to repair your files, then you can download and use the additional repair files.

If the repair RAR file is corrupted, it doesn't really matter, as long as you have at least 2 or more PAR2 files you will still be able to repair.
(Except that you will be missing a few of the recovery blocks, but you might not need all of the blocks to repair the files)

This is what the folder should look like after you have placed the RAR and PAR2 files into the same folder:

4) Open your PAR2 repair program (e.g Quickpar / Macpar Deluxe etc)

5) Click the 'open' button and open the small index PAR2 file. (the index file is usually named something like 'filename.par2')
(On windows, you can choose to associate the 'PAR2' extension with Quickpar using 'open with', so double clicking 'PAR2' files will open them directly)

6) Let the program scan the files for errors, this can take a few seconds. Once its done you should see the status of each file.
Green files are perfect, Orange files are damaged and Red files are missing.

If some or all of your RAR files are marked 'red' then make sure that
- All the RAR files and PAR2 files are in the same folder
- The RAR files are named correctly (e.g "filename_part_2.rar" will not match "filename.part.2.rar"
- The PAR2 files are the ones that were made for the RAR files you downloaded.

Here is a screenshot of my results, as you can see part 2 is not complete but since I have 136 repair blocks I can repair the file using the PAR2 files.

If you don't have enough blocks to repair, its likely that one of your files didn't fully finish downloading...
You can usually tell which part it is as it will have a low number of available blocks. (e.g 52/272 blocks available)
These incomplete files will need to be re-downloaded as there is too much missing or damaged data in the file.

Some uploaders may include an extra repair file with more repair blocks,
If you are missing less the amount of blocks in that file, download it and extract it
into the folder with the other PAR2 files, then close and reopen the index PAR2 file.
e.g If you are missing 30 blocks, but the uploader has an additional RAR file with 32 more blocks
you can download it, extract it to the same folder as the other PAR2 files and reopen the index PAR2 file.

7) If you can repair the file, click the 'Repair' button and wait for it to finish.
the program should then recheck the file and if the repair was a success
you should see a message like "Repair Succeeded in ## seconds @ ### MB/s"

Note: on windows you may find the corrupted files in the recycle bin or in the folder with the original file but renamed.
The corrupted files will usually be renamed to have a file extension of ".1", the corrupted files can be safely deleted after repair.

8) Click on 'Exit' to close the PAR2 program.

9) you can extract the RAR files and there should be no file corruption errors.
(If you still get errors then the PAR2 files were probably made from 'damaged' RAR files)

Making PAR2 repair files

A PAR2 file is made from a 'set' of files on your computer, the downloader needs ALL the files in a set to start repair.

If you have say a 'multiple disc' game or music album, make each disc a seperate PAR2 repair set,
Some people may only want to download 'disc 2' as they it be missing or damaged, or they might have disc 1 already etc...
If their RAR gets corrupted they won't be able to repair using the PAR2 because they will be missing the files from disc 1.

1) Open your PAR2 Creation program and click the 'Options' button.
A new window opens with the settings, change the 'Preferred block Size' to 'Exact - 32,768 bytes'.
This makes each block a multiple of 32kb, which makes the PAR2 files able to repair more data errors.
Note: Some settings here will only need to be done once and they will be saved for all future creation jobs.

2) Drag and drop (or use the add button) to put the files you want in the 'set' into the "source files" window.
You can use ANY filetype it doesn't have to be RAR files, you can make a set from MP3 files, PNG files etc

A set of files is usually all the parts for your upload:
filename.part1.rar
filename.part2.rar
filename.part3.rar
filename.part4.rar

3) Tick the "Restrict Block Size to multiples' box so it is turned ON.
Untick the "split files' option as your source files should be split into parts already.

4) Next set the amount of repair data to include using the "Redundancy" slider.

Remeber that the bigger the set of files, the more chance it has to become corrupted.
you will want to adjust the amount of recovery data depending on the size of your files

I like to use
1% for files between 1mb to 2gb
2% for files between 2gb to 4gb
4% for files bigger then 4gb

1% is 1mb of repair data for every 100mb data in the set.
A 2gb set of files with 1% repair data will be able to repair up to 20mb of damage.

5) In the Recovery file size box, choose 'Variable - Limited to largest data file'
This will make multiple PAR2 files with a variable amount of repair data in each one.

the reason for this is, if you only have a single PAR2 repair file and the file gets corrupted during the download, the entire file is useless.
winrar will not extract files from the RAR if they are damaged, if you pack multple PAR2s file in a RAR and part of it is corrupted,
the downloader can still use the 'good' files that were sucessfully extracted from the RAR and they will still get some repair blocks.

6) Next, set the block size using the "Source Block Count" slider.

Smaller blocksize will make creation time longer and repairing quicker

Bigger blocksize will make the creation time shorter and the repairing will be longer
but you will also have less blocks and you will also have more repair data 'waste'.

example: If the Block size is 512kb, and only 12kb of the data in that block was corrupted,
the program will use 512kb of repair data to repair that block of data which will waste 500kb of repair data.
if you had used say a 64kb block size, you would only waste 52kb of repair data, which is more efficient.

I find that having between 4000 to 6000 blocks in total for the set works pretty well.
This usually gives a block size of between 32kb and 256kb which is a good size.

Here is a screenshot of my settings for a set of 5 files, totaling 500mb, you can use these settings as a reference:

7) Click the 'Create' button and wait for the program to create the PAR2 files.
This will take a few minutes, as it depends on the block size and the size of the files.

8) Once done, pack the 'PAR2' files into a RAR file and name the RAR something like: '-repair.rar'
so the downloader will know that the PAR2 files are for that set of files that you have uploaded.
e.g files are named '1823.part##.rar' then your the repair files could be named '1823-repair.rar'

9) Upload the PAR2 repair RAR file as well as the normal RAR files.
(you might want to add how much repair data is included)
e.g PAR2 files with 1% repair data:

If you have a huge PAR2 set with say 20mb or more of repair data
you can choose to pack the repair data into multiple RAR files:

example: the index PAR2 and say the first 4 repair files into 'repair data 1' RAR file
and the rest of the PAR2 files into a 'repair data 2' RAR file.

This way, the downloader won't need to download ALL the PAR2 files to fix a small error.
and if they need more repair blocks, they can download the second archive.

If you want to find out how many blocks are in each archive,
just add the numbers after the plus sign in the PAR2 filenames.

e.g
Repair set 1:
filename.par2
filename.vol000+01.PAR2
filename.vol001+02.PAR2

01 + 02 = total of 03 repair blocks and the index file.

Repair set 2:
filename.vol003+04.PAR2
filename.vol007+06.PAR2

04 + 06 = total of 10 additional repair blocks.

If the downloader had more then 4 damaged blocks in their downloaded files,
they would also need to download the 2nd file repair as well as the first.

If you do split the repair file into multiple RARs, put the amount of blocks that each RAR file has.
This way the downloader will know if the file has enough blocks to repair their file.

You might also want to include a link to this guide in your topic so the downloaders will know how to
use the PAR2 files, Direct them to the "Repairing Corrupted Files with PAR2" section of this guide.

What is PAR2 and how does it work?

PAR2 stands for 'Parity ARchive Version 2'

It is an open source software that makes 'parity' files using "forward error correction' which
can be used to perform data verification and allow recovery when data is lost or corrupted.

If the 'original' RAR files were named something like:

filename.part01.rar
filename.part02.rar
filename.part03.rar

the 'Parity Archive files' would be named something like this:
(note that the file extension for these files are 'PAR2')

filename.par2
filename.vol000+01.PAR2
filename.vol001+02.PAR2
filename.vol003+04.PAR2
filename.vol007+06.PAR2
and so on...

The first file acts as an index file and contains no repair data,
it just contains the checksum of the blocks of the 'original files' in the set.
(just like a torrent contains the filenames and 'checksums' of the files in it)

All files after the first file will contain repair data. (all the files with 'VOL' in their filename)
The number before the + sign is how many blocks were in previous PAR2 files.
(e.g the forth file has 'vol007', which shows that in all the previous files, there are 7 blocks total)

The number after the + sign is how many blocks that specific PAR2 repair file contains if it was used on its own.
(if you only had the index and the very last file of the PAR2 set above, you could repair up to 6 blocks of data)

Requirements
• 2000 with TA-088v3 PSP or PSP-3000 with firmware 5:03
• ChickHEN R2 or MHUSpeed

Installation for PSP CFW 5.03 Gen-C

• Extract the contents of the PC
• Copy the folder GEN-C (CF 5.03GEN-C/PSP/GAME contained in the package)
• Start the Quick Updater 5.03GEN-C present in the Game> Memory Stick
• Once the update program will have three options:
- X to install the update
- R 2 to restore the original version.txt
- R1 to exit the
• then press the X button to install the CF-C 5.03GEN
• After installation, press X to restart the PSP

MS Speed fix for 5.50GEN [+Using FATMS MOD 3.71][+Easy PSP Phat Method][+Reversible]

Until 5.00M33-4, DarK_AleX used Sony's 3.71OFW MS Driver to enhance MS speed at its custom firmware. Then he developed his own one.

Although his patch doesn't work at 5.50GEN-B2, the 3.71 driver works fine

Don't tested it much, but Soul Calibur CSO is loading 3 seconds faster.

Important: To find the folder \kd of flash0, make your Operational System shows hidden files!

Tutorial:

The patch will crash at the gameboot if you have LEDA 0.2

Tested only at 5.50GEN-B2
Tested in 5.50GenD2 (Slim) Faster Loading in XMB :) -jasonangel

PSP Phat Installation

2. Extract and copy the Seplugins folder in the root of your memory stick.
[Replace the older one]
3. Disconnect your PSP and Take the battery out and insert it back again.
4. Start your PSP pressing 'R' and it should take you to the recovery menu.
5. Go to 'Plugins' and Enable/Activate all the plugins by going on them and pressing 'X' only 1 time (Pressing again will agan disable them).
6. Start the 'Loco Roco Midnight Carnival' Game from your PSP.
7. Select the language and go to 'New Game'
8. (Tricky Part) One you reach this screen, press select for 3-5 seconds and and black menu should come up. Go to 'select cheats' and press 'X' on the level you want to play [Select only one level, else it will hang you PSP]
9. Press 'O' ONLY ONE TIME and Press 'X' one 'Enable Cheat' option in the black Menu.
10. Press 'O' and Press 'X' and woot! you'll be in that level.

Installation:

* Download Game Decrypter by Yoshihiro
* Connect your PSP to the computer via USB
* Take your PSP in "USB mode" with the option "USB Connection"
* Click the right mouse button on the file you downloaded
* Choose "Extract Files ..."( WinRAR is advised)
* Choose like destination the letter assigned to your PSP from your computer.
* Press OK and wait extraction files
* Quit the "USB mode" on your PSP
* Then go below to learn how to use the tool

Use:

* Download the utility UMDGen 4.00
With UMDGen *, retrieve the file EBOOT.BIN located in the folder PSP_GAME / SYSDIR your ISO.

Tutorial in how to add Musics in Rockband [NotSure]

This data was collected over 3 weeks ago and with the official launch of the game I now have permission to post it.

So far these are my results:

Now under MUSIC there is a folder for each song. There are 3 types of files contained in each folder. The 3 are as follows.

.AT3

This is a standard PSP game audio file used as a preview in this game; easily replaceable. I have replaced them myself using this tutorial.

.ATM

Now I replaced the .ATM file for Come Out and Play with the .ATM for Buddy Holly. When I played Come Out and Play the notes remained the same while the music playing was Buddy Holly. While the notes remained the same and the music changed, I also noticed the animations changed as well. Come Out and Play is a fast song on drums while Buddy Holly is a slow song. The drummer drummed the same slow beats as the drummer in Buddy Holly. There were sections of Come Out and Play when there were no notes on drums for a few seconds, the drummer continued to play. As of now, I believe the .ATM contains the in game music as well as the animations for the band. Further tests may be needed to confirm.

Side note: The .ATM file is WITHOUT A DOUBT the in game music. I replaced the .ATM for Float On with an .ATM file I found in the T01 folder named SP_T01.ATM. I figured it must be some sort of Spanish language file, I was right. When I went to play Float On instead of music playing all I heard was some guy talking Spanish.

According to Unsteadycarrot, there is a high likelihood of the .ATM file containing multiple .AT3 files. This is what I first suspected.

.STR

The .STR file is undoubtedly the notes. I replaced the .STR from Alive with the .STR from ABC. I played Alive and low and behold the notes from ABC appeared (I even got to play the drum solo while listening to a slightly more favorable song)!

These are just some extra customizable files found in the game I thought I’d throw in.

.PMF

Standard PSP video files; easily replaceable. I have replaced them myself using this tutorial.

To sum it all up, bascially, what we are looking at for customs are the following two files, neither customizable at this point.

.ATM

.STR

I’m curious as to if anyone else besides me has actually tried replacing song files with other song files found in different locations in the game (i.e. replacing the .ATM for Come Out and Play with Buddy Holly).

As of now I am using UMDGen v4.00 to open up the .ISO, replace files and then save (rebuild). Here is the guide if anyone’s interested. I’m pretty sure Rock Band Unplugged is LBA protected so I usually export the file list before I begin, make the 3 files inside the SYSDIR>UPDATE into dummy files, replace the files I want, import the file list, and then save as a .CSO using compression value 1. If anyone knows a better way to go about doing this please tell me!!!

Basically this so-called Custom Firmware is a Hex/Patch version of M33 & GEN Firmware.

First, I think about making Fix Flasher 1.0 with many fixes, but I made an own firmware called 5.50 U3R.

Changes from 5.50 U3R:
Fixed PSX Games - they are now working. (tested on Gran Turismo)
Fixed exit with O button - now working.
Added built-in plugins: (only for psp-2000, and still under construction)
LEDControl 0.2 (not working on my 2000)
Hold+ 3.7 (working on my 2000)
MusicPRX 390 (not working on my 2000)

Changes from 5.50 GEN:
VSH Menu has SHUTDOWN DEVICE option.
Recovery Menu has SPEEDUP MS options.
PSX games may work, but I'm not 100% sure (this means NOT TESTED).

Installation:
1) You must install CFW 5.50 GEN or 5.50 U3R as a shell (framework).
2) Delete u3rloader folder from /PSP/GAME if it is.
3) Copy u3rloader folder from a zip file to /PSP/GAME

Place the "5.50gen-b update" folder in your "game" folder and then run the update. Gives you the option to use the vsh menu or recovery when select is hit. In the vsh menu you can convert battery between pandora and normal. You also have the shutdown option.

Download and place the "u3rloader" folder in your "game" folder. Run the "5.50U3R Installer" under game on your xmb.

Hit X to install firmware.
(the other option is unstable)
Now it will patch and then you will be on 5.50U3R-2(Also called U3R-A)
What this patch does is adds some other options to the 5.50gen-a firmware. It has the shutdown feature under the vsh menu and most notably, it has the MS speed up option under the recovery menu's configuration.

Trouble shooting:
Custom theme did not come up?
Make sure you have the ctf in theme folder and the cxmb folder in the root directory. Check the vsh.txt and make sure it reads the same as above. Or restart your psp while holding down your R shoulder button. Gen recovery will pop up. scroll down to plugins and hit X. Make sure cxmb.prx[VSH] is enabled. Go under theme settings and activate the theme.
Pops not working?
Again, make sure the folders and .prx have been placed in the correct spot. Now use the method above to check if popsloader.prx[POPS] is enabled.
Update wont start?
Make sure your battery is charged. This update only work on 3.52m33-3 or high firmware. (must have cfw to install)
ON the 5.50gen-b update you need to be on cfw 5.50gen-a 1st.

Q and A:
Q: Why do the themes not show up under theme settings?
A: UPDATED!!!!! Now the cxmb has been patched and your themes will show up under theme settings. (Remember to use only 5.50gen themes.)
Q: Is this worth upgrading from 5.00m33-6?
A: If you want to play your games online and get in the psp store then the answer is YES!!!!

Tutorial Quickly Change 500m33 to 550Gen with CXMB | PSP Tutorials

The goal here is to easily switch between 5.00m33 and 5.50gen while keeping cxmb and any other firmware specific plugins loaded independantly of each firmware.

In this pack you will find Flash_Loader, NandManager, and a customized CXMB

I have simply hex edited cxmb to have unique cxmb.prx, support folder and conf.txt so that each firmware loads the proper files it needs.

How this works

First, copy the contents of the zip file to your memorystick.
Next edit ms0:/seplugins/vsh.txt and delete the ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx 1 line or change 1 to 0 to disable loading cxmb from this seplugins folder because we will be loading this from flash0 at the end.

Now while in 5.00m33 run Flash Loader from game menu. This will modify psbtn files and add an seplugins folder to flash0 where we can have it load our plugins.
Now once back to xmb, enable flash0 via USB and edit the vsh.txt in seplugins folder to say
ms0:/cxmb/cxmb500.prx 1

This will enable the cxmb for 5.00 to load upon bootup and use the suppor5 and con5.txt file for loading ctf files.

Now when you reboot, your psp probably won't have a custom theme loaded because of the ctf name in con5.txt. So go to System - Themes - and pick a theme to make sure it works.

If it works Now start up Nand Manager and press Square to dump nand. *Don't worry if you get a message saying bad block detected. I get one every time while reading and writing. Once that process is finished exit back to xmb, enable USB for your memory stick and go to nanddump folder and rename the nand-dump*******.bin to be 5.00m33.bin

Good job..first half done...

Now install 5.50gen A then install gen B update.

If you payed attention to the first half of the procedures then you can probably figure out what needs to be done.

Here's where it gets tricky...since cxmb lists ALL themes in the psp\theme folder, you will see both 5.00 and 5.50 themes...if you select a ctf for the wrong firmware, your psp will reboot and you will see the default xmb and probably say 'wtf SchmilK this didn't work' Well be smart and choose a 5.50 ctf or edit conf.txt and put in the name of the 5.50 theme you want to load.

If it works Now start up Nand Manager and press Square to dump nand. *Don't worry if you get a message saying bad block detected. I get one every time while reading and writing. Once that process is finished exit back to xmb, enable USB for your memory stick and go to nanddump folder and rename the nand-dump*******.bin to be 5.50gen.bin.

Congratulations...now you can swap between firmware in under 2 minutes.

If you use ultimate vshmenu from total_noob, then you should disable it from the vsh.txt on memorystick and put it on flash0 in 5.00m33 because it WILL cause 5.50gen to crash.

That's about it. Hopefully this wasn't too confusing.

ChickHen 100% method to work for psp 3000:

FULL TUTORIAL
You need:
1-To have installed firmware 5.03
2-The ChickHen folder with the pictures and the h.bin
3-GEN-A or CFWE

PC:

Update
1-Extract and put the UPDATE folder in your ms0:\PSP\GAME folder
2-Install official firmware 5.03 (make sure your battery is 75% loaded or it won't let you update)
Running HEN
3-Download the file ChickHen with dark alex mod
4-Extract it to your desktop or wherever you want.
5-Copy the ChickHen to you ms0:\PICTURE or ms0:\PSP\PHOTO folder (You can backup your old ChickHen folder by moving it somewhere else or to your computer)(ms0:\PICTURE\ChickHen)
6- Copy the h.bin to the root of your memory stick (ms0:\h.bin)

For those who wants to use GEN-A:
1-Download the GEN-A and extract it wherever you want
2-Run LAUNCH-ME.exe (GUI)
3-Choose PSP 3000 and choose option FULL
4-Write the letter where your psp is situated (Only the letter)
5-Push start

For Those who wants to use CFWE v3.50
1-Download the CFWE v3.50 and extract it wherever you want
2-Copy CFWenabler inside your ms0:\PSP\GAME folder

PSP:

1-Go to Photo->Memory Stick
2-Press X then you'll see your ChickHen folder
3-Hold Analog down button after that you press X.
4-If your PSP freezes and shut-off don't worry it means you failed just turn it on and try again. (It doesn't work first time so you will have to try again)
If the screen turns green and your psp automaticaly reboots you succeeded
5-Go to Game->Memory stick and run INSTALLER-LOADER if you have GEN-A or CFWEnabler 3.50 if you have CFWE

For GEN:
You'll get a black screen with:
Press L or R trigger to flash custom firmware into your flash
Press O to reboot into the cutom firmware(You need to have it installed)

6-You're going to press L or R but not both and wait for it to say that it succeeded (You only have to do this one time)
7-When it's done press O your psp will go back to the xmb and you'll be able to play ISOs/CSOs

For CFWEnabler:
5- Press Flash and start
6- Next time I think you'll only need to press start

7- When you are in Gen-a or 5.03m33 press select and change the UMD ISO MODE to m33 driver, Sony NP9660 or OE Isofs depending on what game you are playing

This is pretty simple trick. Its great for battery bars like the one in organ or applecor.
Things you need:
-decrypted system_plugin_fg.rco
-Rco Editor v1.15c

Pretty basic...
1) Open up the decrypted system_plugin_fg.rco.

2) Click on the anim_data tab.

3) Scroll down to anim_battery_charging @ 0x1B20

4) You can see four [0x906] Set Object Alpha's. Two of them have "1" at the fifth line and two of them have a "0" at the fifth line.

5) Edit the two Set Object Alpha's with "0" on the fifth line change the "0" and the fifth line to "1" like the first two Set Object Alpha's by simply double clicking on the "0" or highlight them and click change.

6) It generates a back up file incase you do something wrong. Just delete the *bak extensions at the end.

Tutorial for CXMB 5.03 Gen A

Ok guys, I know alot of you have been asking and finally Total Noob has released his unofficial release of CXMB for GEN-A!!

So, first of all, download the attached file on this thread. HERE

Ok, now we may begin.

I would have screenshots for you but as of yet I have not found a working screenshot plugin for GEN-A.... Someday soon, though.

Now, I'm not going to guide you through getting GEN-A installed on your system, so if you need help getting there go find a different guide.

Now, unzip the file. When you open it up, you will see several files:

a folder named Lite
a folder named Full
a file called Circacor.ctf (this is a cxmb theme file, do not try and use it yet though, as the new CXMB needs converted themes)
and .exe file named CTF Converter
and three readmes

If you can work your way through the readmes go ahead, but then you won't need this guide, and its still a little guesswork

I'm using the Full folder, but you can choose either and the steps are the same. The difference is that the Full lets you use both .ctf and flash0 (not yet supported on 3000s or v3s) and the Lite only allows .ctfs. You will only want .ctf files anyway until you get used to how this is going to work.

Now, first, copy both the ctf file and the CTF Converter to a folder on your desktop. If, at a later time you want to download more .ctf themes you will want to put these themes into this same folder.

Once moved, open the CTF Converter and let it work its magic. Its very easy, as it pretty much works by itself.

Once you have done that, open up the Full (or Lite, if you wanna be that way) folder and look inside. It will have three more folders: cxmb, PSP, and seplugins. Copy all of these to the root of you memorystick. If it asks you if you want to merge folders, tell it yes.

Now, put the stick your psp with GEN-A 5.03 running. Press select, and go down to Recovery menu. For right now, the recovery menu is a little bugged, so when you get down to plugins, you may have to select the option above plugins to actually get to that sub menu. If cxmb.prx is not enabled, click on it and it will then say enabled next to it. Click back, then hit select.

You are now back in the XMB. Go to the GEN-A loader, the one you used to install/reboot to GEN firmware, and run it. When it boots up, just press , as you have already been running the firmware and don't need to reinstall it. It should reboot, with your new shiny theme up and running.

I have a ton of really great .ctf themes, and the folks at PSP Themes have some of the best theme creators out there. Go check them out.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ANY 5.00 M33-6 .CTF THEME TO RUN HERE, BUT MAKE SURE YOU CONVERT IT BEFORE TRYING TO USE IT

Now, this is only my first revision, and I did this on my 3000 and then went to work, so I haven't yet been able to double-check my steps. I'll update within the hour if anything is out of place.

Hi Guys, just want to lend a hand for my fellow PSP-3000 owners.

I Have a PSP 3001 Silver (Ratchet and Clank Edition ) and I currently have 5.03 Gen-A CFW

This is a guide for PSP 2000 ta00v3 mobo or PSP 3000 Owners in Installing Custom Firmware

they can play PSX Games, Emulators, PSP Backups, etc. (ISO's/CSO's)

First, for those who really don't know anything about Firmwares:

OFW/CFW - Official Firmware/Custom Firmware . custome firmware is what you want.

An Official Firmware is the version that came along when you bought your psp.

You can tell by going to your Settings>System Settings>system information

Then look at the System Software.

Examples of Official Firmware Versions are

5.01

5.02

5.03 < This is what you need First installed on your PSP.

Notice that it only contains the version number while the Custom firmware looks like this

5.03 chickHen R2

5.03 GEN-A (Full)

Now First step, you need to get your PSP to OFW 5.03 .. you can get it here HERE

NOTE: This guide will not work on Versions that are HIGHER than 5.03.. not yet.. only OFW 5.03 and below..

Extract the RAR . there should be a file named "Eboot.pbp".

Format the Memory Stick First via your PSP.. Settings>System Settings> Format Memory Stick.

Connect the USB Connection and then Create a New Folder named UPDATE

and place it in your psp and it should look like this>> PSP\GAME\UPDATE...

My Psp Drive in my My Computer is F: so It should be like this F:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE

Place the Eboot.pbp in the UPDATE.

Close the USB Connection.

Run the update using your PSP. it will reboot.

It takes a while, i know..

That should upgrade your

PSP to 5.03 OFW.

Note: your battery should be at least 78% i think in order to continue.

Wait for it.. and your System Software should be 5.03 after rebooting.

Second step

Now, assuming you have OFW 5.03 in your PSP, We now move on to installing the CFW ChickHEN R2 by Davee and Team Typhoon..

MHUSpeed: Here (I recommend this)

EZ503HenSLIMversion - This works for psp 3000 don't worry.

Now make sure your psp is connected via USB Connection.

Extract this to a folder. Then run the application. then press Install.

Disconnect your PSP.

IMPORTANT - - - If your PSP is a JAP Version don't forget to set your Character to US

System > Character Set > US then try to Load the R2 i figured it out when im trying a 100x in running the ChickHEN but when i Change my Character to US 1 try and 100% work -jasonangel

NOW TO MAKE SURE YOU RUN chickHEN you have to do this ( cuz it increases the chances of being successful and not ending up freezing and retrying again ang again )

Under Settings--System Settings, press Restore Default Settings, yes, yes..

Under Settings--System Settings, Turn Off the UMD Auto Start and the UMD Cache.

Now do this....

When you're at the Pictures > Memory Stick, repeatedly press X like 5 times before it goes in .. (that is if X is the enter button.. if not then O you have to do this fast.

Then after entering, there should be a folder named chickHen go inside it and don't do anything ... your screen should glitch and turn green and your PSP should reboot by itself.

If it freezes.. Do it all over again.. Here's a Tip: Remove the memory stick, turn on and off a couple of times, then insert the mem stick again and make an attempt in the pictures again.

If you check your System Software again, it should say 5.03 chickHEN R2

Just Put the folder in PSP/Game folder of your MS then run it on your PSP and click the

Third step

Now that you have CFW 5.03 chickHen R2, Connect the USB Connection again in your PSP.

We now need to install CFW 5.03 Gen-A (Full) in order for your PSP to read PSX eboots, ISO's and more.

There's a readme included made by the developers ..well.. what the heck.. here it is..

Rules:

01. Connect your PSP to the computer in USB Mode when you have loaded ChickHEN R2.

02. Unzip 5.03GEN-A_for_HEN.zip on your desktop by example

03. double-click on LAUNCH-ME.exe (GUI)

04.PSP Model : choose options PSP-2000 or PSP-3000 (depends on your PSP )

05.Mode : Choose option FULL

06.PSP Install : Choose option YES

07. push START.

08.The files are copied on your PSP. You can now exit.

09. Disconnect the PSP from USB.

10. Launch the main EBOOT.PBP using ChickHEN R2 (only R2! NOT R1!).

Launch the main EBOOT.PBP means go to your PSP and go to Games>Memory Stick then

run the "Installer Loader" application.

11. When the app load, press L or R to flash the firmware in your flash. YOU ONLY NEED MAKE IT ONE TIME!

12. Press O to reboot in the custom firmware.

From my experience, Launch me.exe doesn't work on windows XP.. it works with vista..

NOTE It said in number 11 > YOU ONLY NEED MAKE IT ONE TIME! it means that if ever you need to install the CFW again u don't need to press L or R anymore just O to reboot the firmware..

Voila.... you have your very own CFW enabled PSP.

To play ISO/CSO's

Create a folder named ISO in the root of your memory stick. ( e.g. F:\ISO\ ) and put your iso games in there. )

After that, go to the XMB menu. ( XMB is the menu of your PSP- Settings,Pictures,Music,Video,Game,etc ) and then
Press Select then switch the UMD ISO Mode to M33 Driver and exit.. Now you can play ISO, PSx games

NOTE : If you do not want to repeat the process from Step 2 to Step 3 i suggest that you make it a habit turning your PSP to sleep mode ONLY.
Don't turn it off or else the firmware will go back to its OFW 5.03.. then you have to do Step 2 all over again and then step 3..

3. Copy the CSO/ISO file into the ISO folder on your memory stick.

If you don't have an ISO folder you will need to make one

The ISO folder needs to be created on your 'Memory stick' next to the PSP and MP_RT folders.

4. Close the USB Connection and disconnect the USB Cable.

5. Insert a Game or Demo UMD into your PSP. (It must be a Game or Demo UMD, you cannot use a UMD Movie)

The UMD is needed in your PSP to pass the 'UMD Check' the PSP does when starting the ISO.

6. Scroll the 'Game' > 'Memory Stick' menu and you should see your ISO as one of the games on the menu.

7. Highlight your game and press 'Start'

Installing Homebrew onto your PSP

The folder you install your homebrew to depends on your "Game homebrew folder" option you set in Recovery Mode.

If your "Game Homebrew Folder" option is set to '3.xx Kernel':

* Put 1.00 / 1.50 format homebrew into the PSP \ GAME150 \ folder.
* Put 2.xx / 3.xx format homebrew into the PSP \ GAME \ folder.

If your "Game Homebrew Folder" option is set to '1.50 Kernel':

* Put 1.00 / 1.50 format homebrew into the PSP \ GAME \ folder.
* Put 2.xx / 3.xx format homebrew into the PSP \ GAME3xx \ folder.

You can tell what format your homebrew is in by looking at the folders it comes in:
1.00 homebrew has one folder, Its not really common to find a homebrew program in the 1.00 format.
1.50 homebrew has two folders, one folder will have a % symbol in its name and the other won't.
2.xx / 3.xx homebrew has one folder, most homebrew in this format will be only for custom firmware.

If you are unsure what format your homebrew is in, open the readme file that comes with your homebrew program.

Since 1.50 homebrew is harder to install, this is how you install 1.50 homebrew on a custom firmware PSP.
Its similar for 3.xx homebrew, but you will have to place it in the correct 'homebrew' folder.

1. Download and unzip the homebrew program into a folder on your hard drive.

2. Connect your PSP to your computer using a USB Cable.

3. Enable USB connection on your PSP from the settings menu.

4. Open your 1.50 homebrew folder, Its normally 'PSP \ GAME150' if you have custom firmware.

5. Copy both folders from your homebrew program into your 1.50 homebrew folder (e.g PSP \ GAME150)

* Homebrew and Homebrew%

* __SCE__Homebrew and %__SCE__Homebrew

6. Copy any additional files into the folder without the "%" symbol.
e.g If its an emulator you will need to add your Roms / BIOS file.
Read the 'readme.txt' file that came with your homebrew to find out if you need any extra files.

7. Close the USB connection and remove the USB cable.
8. On your PSP go to 'Game' > 'Memory stick', your homebrew should appear in the game list.
9. Select your homebrew and press 'Start'.

1. Download and install winrar from http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm

2. Place all parts into the same folder on your hard drive

3. Right-click the first part and choose 'Extract to here'.

4. Winrar will open and extract/join the files into one file.

5. You should see your ISO/CSO file, copy it to the ISO folder on your memory stick.

If this is your first time playing an ISO on your memory stick you might need to make the folder yourself.
Open the drive letter your computer gives your PSP Memory stick. (like E:\)
Make a new folder called ISO in the same folder as PSP and MP_RT folders your memory stick should already have.

Note: ISO files may look like another winrar file. you can tell if its an ISO when you double click it.
If winrar opens and you see a file and a folder (PSP_GAME and UMD_DATA.BIN) then its an ISO file.

Important: PSP Firmware Update 5.50 blocks the "Tiff" bug that HEN uses to start.
If you have Firmware 5.50 on your PSP then you will not be able to use the 'HEN' at all.

Before you use the '5.03 HEN', I highly recommend you read this post below so you don't brick your PSP:

Introduction and Background Information:

Recently a 'bug' was found in the PSP's Libtiff Library, This 'bug' affects PSP firmwares: 5.00, 5.01, 5.02, 5.03 and 5.05
(Firmware 5.05 was only released on a few PSP Games in Japan), This 'bug' can be 'exploited' to run unsigned code in user mode.
A 'kernel mode' exploit has also been found, which is used in combination with the 'user mode' exploit to disable the 'signature check'
when starting an EBOOT file. which means you will be able to start almost any homebrew program on your PSP.

These two exploits have been combined and made into a Homebrew Enabler (aka 'HEN')
The 'HEN' program will be loaded using the PSP's Photo menu and is only temporary,
If you fully turn off your PSP, the 'HEN' will be unloaded and you will need to run 'HEN' again.

What can I do with this Homebrew Enabler:

Here is an incomplete list of things you can do with this 'Homebrew Enabler' (HEN)

What you can do:
- Run an unsigned homebrew eboot file (e.g emulators) on ALL PSP-2000 and PSP-3000.
- Custom Firmware can be permanently installed onto some models of PSP without needing a Pandora Battery.
- Custom Firmware can be loaded temporarily onto all PSP-2000s (including Ta-088v3 PSP) using 'CFW Loader'

What do I need to use this Homebrew Enabler:

You will need:

- A PSP with system software 5.03 and lower (if lower, you need to manually update to firmware 5.03)
- A Memory Stick Pro Duo with 32mb or more of free space.
- A USB Cable / Card Reader to copy a few files onto your PSP memory stick.

Checking the firmware version of your PSP:

If you don't know what firmware version your PSP has installed, then do this:

1. Turn on your PSP and wait until that Main Menu loads (This is known as the XMB)
2. In the XMB go all the way to the left to select the 'Settings' menu.
3. Scroll down to 'System Settings' and press 'X' (Press 'O' on Japanese PSPs)
4. Scroll down to 'System Information' and press 'X' (Press 'O' on Japanese PSPs)
5. Your firmware version is what is written next to "System Software:"
6. Press the 'O' button to exit the system information menu. (Press 'X' on Japanese PSPs)

If you have 'Firmware 5.50' or higher then you cannot use the 'HEN' to hack your PSP because the new firmware update has blocked it.
(If you have a PSP-1000 OR a older model PSP-2000 (that is not a Ta088v3 PSP, you can use a 'Pandora Battery' to install custom firmware)

If you have 'Firmware 5.03' then 'HEN' will work on your PSP and you can continue to the 'Downloading and Installing HEN' section below.

If you have 'Firmware 5.02' or lower you will need to manually update your PSP, see the next section 'Updating your PSPs Firmware'.

Updating your PSPs Firmware:

If you don't have firmware 5.03 installed on your PSP you will need to update it manually
(Don't use the network update, you will get the latest firmware that blocks the '5.03 HEN')

Upgrading Instructions:
1. Download the firmware upgrade to your hard drive, right click the downloaded file and choose "extract to here"
(You will need Winrar / winzip installed on your computer to extract the firmware update file from the ZIP)

2. Copy the 'UPDATE' folder that you got when you extracted the ZIP file.
3. Plug in your PSP to your computer using a USB cable.
4. Select USB Connection from the 'settings' menu in the XMB (If the connection isn't made automatically)
5. Open the Drive letter your computer assigns to your PSP (e.g E:\)
6. Open the "PSP" folder, then open the "GAME" folder and paste the 'UPDATE' folder into the 'GAME' folder.
7. Close the USB Connection using your PSP (press 'O') and disconnect the USB Cable from your PSP and computer.
8. Make sure your PSP has over 77% battery power (and optionally plug in the AC Adaptor to your PSP)
9. Go to the memory stick under "Game" on your PSP and you should see a 'PSP Firmware update' icon.
10. Highlight the firmware update and press 'start' to start the update.
11. Now follow the on-screen instructions, it is fairly simple to install.
12. Once the update has finished your PSP will turn off or will load the XMB menu.
13. Go to the 'Settings' > 'System Settings' > 'System Information' menu to check your firmware.

Now you have successfully upgraded your PSP firmware to firmware 5.03.

Downloading and Installing HEN:

Once you have the '5.03 HEN' installed and workinf on your PSP, never ever update your PSP firmware.
Your PSP needs firmware 5.03 for the 'HEN' to load, updaing will block the method 'HEN' uses to load.
Updating your PSP Firmware to 5.05 or higher will block the 'HEN' from running.

HEN Install Instructions:
1. Download the 'Homebrew Enabler' ZIP file to your hard drive, right click the downloaded file and choose "extract to HEN503R2v3\"
(You will need Winrar / winzip installed on your computer to extract the 'Homebrew Enabler' files from the ZIP file)

2. Plug in your PSP to your computer using a USB cable.
3. Select USB Connection from the 'settings' menu in the XMB (If the connection isn't made automatically)

4. Open the "HEN503R2v3" on your computer.
If you have a PSP-1000 (PSP-Phat), then copy the 'TiffPHAT' folder and go to step 5.
If you have a PSP-2000/3000 (PSP-Slim or PSP-Bright) copy the 'TiffSLIM-Mod' folder and go to step 5.

Note: The 'TIFFSLIM-mod' folder contains a modified TIFF file which is reported to be more compatible with Slim PSPs,
If you can't get the 'HEN' loaded after 25 tries, then try using the normal 'TiffSLIM' folder instead...

5. Open the Drive letter your computer assigns to your PSP (e.g E:\) (recommended to open it in a new window)

6. Open the 'PSP' folder then the 'PHOTO' folder on your memory stick and paste the folder you copied in step 4 to your PSP.
(If you don't have a 'PHOTO' folder in the 'PSP' folder, then make a new folder on your memory stick and name it 'PHOTO')

7. Go back to the 'HEN503R2v3' folder on your computer and copy the 'h.bin' file
8. Paste the 'h.bin' file to your memory stick where the PSP folder is, but don't put it in a folder.
(e.g If 'E' is the drive letter your computer gives your PSP memory stick, Paste in 'E:\')

9. (Optional) To install 'PSPIdent' then copy the 'PSPIdent' folder into the 'PSP' \ 'GAME' folder.
'PSPIdent' is a program that will tell you the motherboard model is inside your PSP.
When its loaded, it will save a picture of the information to your memory stick (where the h.bin file is)
The white lines going up the screen when you run the program is normal.

You can delete 'PSPIdent' by deleting the folder from the 'PSP > Game' folder on your memory stick.

HEN Usage Instructions:
1. Fully turn off your PSP by holding the power button up for 7 seconds.
2. Turn on your PSP and wait for the XMB main menu to load.
3. Go directly to the Photo Menu and press 'X'
4. Your PSP will either start the 'HEN' or it may freeze and turn off.

The 'TIFF' exploit is VERY unstable, just keep trying and it will load, it may take a few tries to get it loaded.

Quote:

It's not possible to have a 100% success rate due to the way the TIFF exploit works. It patches a system address
that changes randomly, so the chances of it patching the correct address is not 100%. Basically, it is all luck...

If your PSP keeps freezing and turning off and you've tried at least 25 times, try doing these things:

Set the Theme to Original in the 'Settings' > 'Theme Settings' > 'Theme'
Turn off 'UMD Autostart' in 'Settings' > 'System Settings' > 'UMD Autostart' > 'Off'
Insert a UMD Game Disc into your PSP and let the UMD 'Game Icon' load before going to the photo menu.
(My Slim PSP wouldn't load the HEN unless a UMD Game Disc was inserted into the PSP)
Try using the 'Restore Default Settings' in 'Settings'> 'System Settings'
-- (Note: you will lose all settings on your PSP, nickname / wireless connections etc)
Delete the 'TiffSLIM-Mod' folder from your memory stick and try using the "TiffSLIM' folder instead

If your PSP successfully starts the HEN, the screen should turn white or green, then the PSP will restart itself.

5. Check the 'Settings > 'System Settings' > 'System Information' you should see '5.03 ChickHEN' in system software.

6. Now you can start your homebrew programs from the 'Game > Memory Stick' menu on your PSP.

Notes:

If you turn off your PSP you will need to re-activate the "HEN" starting from step 1.
Its best to put your PSP into sleep mode instead of fully turning it off, as HEN is unstable and hard to load.
You MUST keep the exploit files installed on your memory stick to run the 'HEN'.

Flashing Custom Firmware onto your PSP:

Please check that your PSP Motherboard is compatible with custom firmware before doing this!
I have a list of supported and unsupported models below, You will need to install and use the program 'PSPIdent' to find your PSP motherboard model.

Flashing a custom firmware onto an unsupported PSP will result in your PSP being bricked.
Bricked means the PSP will freeze on a black screen when you turn it on,
If you brick your PSP, you will need to send it back to Sony for repair.
Sony will then most likely install the latest firmware on your PSP which will block the 'HEN'.

'Recovery Flasher 1.60' has motherboard checks and will not let you install custom firmware onto a non-compatible PSP.

All PSP-3000's models and PSP-2000 models with the 'TA088v3' motherbaord are not compatible with custom firmware.
If you have a TA088v3 PSP-2000 you can use the 'CFW Loader' program to run custom firmware.
At the moment there is no 'CFW Loader' for the PSP-3000 models yet, but one will be made when more info about the PSP-3000 is found.

You can use a program called 'PSPIdent' to find the motherboard model in your PSP,
The "PSPIdent" program is included in the 'HEN' download, copy it into the 'PSP \ GAME' folder and run it.
When the program loads, it will save a screenshot onto your memory stick, you can view it on computer

If PSPIdent cannot identify your PSP, compare the chip numbers you get to the ones on the list above to find your PSP version.
Tachyon - Version number of the chip which contains the CPU, 'Media Engine' and GPU.
Baryon - Version number of the PSP's System Control chip.
Pommel - Version number of the PSP's GPIO/watchdog which handles system events and shuts down the PSP if it crashes.

Required Files:
Recovery Flasher v1.60 (Install Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-6) (~28.2mb)

Installing Recovery Flasher:

1. Download and Extract the 'Recovery Flasher' Program from the link above.
2. Make a USB Connection (or insert your PSP memory stick into a card reader)
3. Copy and paste the 'RECOVERY' folder into the PSP \ GAME folder on your memory stick.
(You can ignore the "files-for.1.50-firmware" folder as it is not needed on '5.03 HEN')
4. Close the USB Connection and remove the USB Cable.

Using Recovery Flasher to Install Custom Firmware:
1. Go to the 'Game > Memory Stick' section on your PSP and start the 'Recovery Flasher' program.
2. You will need to 'Agree' to the warning screen (Press Down and then 'X')
3. On the main menu confirm that target firmware is set to 5.00.
(If the target firmware isn't 5.00, highlight "target firmware" and press 'X' until it changes to 5.00)

4. Go down to 'Install M33 CFW' and press 'X' (You will need at least 50% battery power)
(note: you can skip the battery check by holding L+R at the same time)

5. You will need to reset your settings (recommended), select "reset" and then press 'X'
6. The Custom Firmware install process will begin. This will take a few minutes, Wait until it finishes.
7. Once its done, press the 'X' button and your PSP will shutdown. It might take about a minute for the PSP to turn off.
The Power light flashing is normal, just leave your PSP and it will turn itself off automatically, don't turn it off yourself.

8. Turn on your PSP and reconfigure the settings like you did when you first got your PSP.

You should now have Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-6 installed on your PSP.
I recommend you configure the custom firmware recovery menu.

Once you have the custom firmware installed on your PSP you can delete the Hen files from your memory stick.
The files you need to delete are the 'h.bin' file and the 'TIFFPHAT' / 'TIFFSLIM' folder in PSP \ PHOTO.

Playing PSX EBOOTs and PSP ISO/CSOs on your PSP using '5.03 HEN' and 'CFWEnabler':

This doesn't work on the PSP-3000 (aka PSP Brite) at the moment.

Required Files:
CFWEnabler v2.10 for 5.03 HEN (for PSP-2000 Series Only):

'CFWEnabler v2.10' Installation and Setup Instructions:

1. Download the 'CFWEnabler' file above and extract it to your computer.
2. Remove any old versions of the 'CFWEnabler' from the PSP \ GAME folder on your memory stick.
3. Copy the new version of 'CFWEnabler' folder into the PSP \ GAME folder on your memory stick.
(note: Don't change the 'CFWEnabler' foldername, if you do then it won't load properly)

4. Start the '5.03 HEN' using the Photo menu and wait until the PSP has loaded the HEN.
5. Go to the Game > Memory stick menu and start the 'CFWLoader 2.10' homebrew program.

6. The very first time you run the 'CFWEnabler', you will need to install a few files into the FLASH of your PSP.
Select the "Flash and Start' option on the main menu and confirm you want to install the files by selecting 'YES'
This is completely safe as it only adds new files to the flash, it doesn't overwrite anything.

7. Once you have the custom firmware files installed, choose 'No' when asked to start the custom firmware.
Restart the 'CFWEnabler' program from the game > memory stick menu.

8. If you want to be able to play PSX EBOOT games, select the 'Enable POPs support' option on the main menu.
When asked to flash the POP modules, choose 'YES' and press 'Circle' to exit CFWLoader.
Restart the 'CFWEnabler' program from the game > memory stick menu.

You have finished installing and setting up 'CFWEnabler v2.10'

'CFWEnabler' Usage Instructions:

1. Start the '5.03 HEN' using the Photo menu and wait until the PSP has loaded the HEN.
2. Go to the Game > Memory stick menu and start the 'CFWLoader 2.10' homebrew program.

3. Select "Start" on the main menu to load the custom firmware, this takes about 5 seconds...

4. Your PSP should now have custom firmware loaded and enabled.
you are now able to install and play your PSX EBOOT games
and PSP ISO and CSO files on the Game > Memory Stick menu.

Some tips about using CFWEnabler:

PSP ISO and CSO files need to get copied into a folder named 'ISO' on your memory stick. (e.g G:\ISO\)
PSX EBOOT games go into their own folder in the PSP \ GAME folder (e.g PSP \ GAME \ CrashBandicoot \ EBOOT.PBP)
If you are getting a 'Game Cannot be started' error when you start PSP ISO / CSO files,
-- Press 'Select' to open the VSHMenu and change the 'UMD ISO Mode' to 'NP9660' or 'M33 driver'.
Some PSP games will need to use a certain 'UMD ISO mode' to load.
If the PSP ISO / CSO games freeze on a black screen when starting try using a different UMD mode.

[HEN] Read this before you brick your PSP

What you can and can not do with ChickHEN
A must-read if you don't want to damage your PSP

Introduction:
Just after the release of HEN, people are already trying to flash all sorts of things to it. Even though the readme clearly stated the following, "Flashing onto your PSP WILL BRICK IT!!", I feel it's necesarry to do a more in-depth explanation of this situation. Note that the HEN itself shouldn't be able to brick your PSP, but that any of the programs you run can very easily do so.

When a PSP does not have a firmware installed, or if the firmware files have been damaged, your PSP is called a 'brick'. This term is used to describe the state in which your PSP cannot successfully load the system files and boot into the firmware, thus rendering it as useless as a brick.

This is something you want to avoid happening to your PSP, and this guide aims at helping you archieve that. Note however, that it's still fully your own responsibility on what you do with your PSP. As you violate the Sony license agreement by using this HEN, it can't be guaranteed that your PSP will still fall under warranty. In this case, Sony can charge relatively high sums of money to unbrick your PSP, which in turn will bring it up the to latest 5.50 firmware, rendering the TIFF exploit useless.

Flashing files in general:
Those old-school sceners will remember the flashing of themes and other goodies. No matter how stable this works under custom firmwares, it's not the same as HEN. You need to take in to account that you need to keep the official firmware working, as if you reboot you return to it and you need to pass it to enter HEN again. For example, PRX files included in themes won't be encrypted, and even though the HEN core will patch the kernel to allow them to load, on reboot, returning to official firmware, you will be sitting with a brick as the files are now 'damaged'.

Flashing entire firmwares:
In general, flashing custom firmwares on PSP's other than the TA-088v3/PSP-3000 should work. I'm not going to go in depth on how to do this, but as long as you're careful and using well-known applications tested by other people on the HEN (it's helpful to have Pandora at hand while testing), you should be alright.

For the TA-088v3/PSP-3000 it's another story however. Both of these PSP's can't handle custom IPL blocks, which makes custom firmwares and Pandora run. And if they don't work, it will get stuck at them, and never finish loading the actual firmware. This also ends up as a brick. This is the main reason why you shouldn't just blatantly flash stuff like this on to your PSP. A PSP-3000 can be recognized with ease, like it's brighter screen, and different home button. TA-088v3 is a different story however, as it looks like all the other Slim's. One of the best ways to figure this out is using jas0nuk's pspident application, which can be found here. Simply run this like any other homebrew and it will show what motherboard you're equipped with. Anything higher than TA-088v3 is not able to run custom firmware, or install any of the older firmwares (say, under 5.00).

If it does support custom firmware however, it doesn't mean you don't need to be cautious. A good idea would be to make Pandora using the usual tools, just like you would under custom firmware. This will significantly decrease the chance of anything going wrong.

Breaking the TIFF exploit:
Finally, there is a slightly less critical issue that can occur, but it needs to be taken in to account. Like I said before, I suggest you don't flash anything at all, and just wait for the things you want to be made flashless. Like waiting for CXMB to work on the HEN to use your precious themes. However, if you, for whatever reason, flashed a file which didn't break the official firmware, like the waves, you might end up with the TIFF no longer launching, for the simple reason that the exploit was build to run on an unmodified PSP. Keep in mind that if these files are damaged or incorrect, they will still cause a full brick.

Determining homebrew that flashes:
In general, no files will be flashed without the user being acknowledged. Just keep an eye on what you run, always read the readmes and you should be fine.

Can I flash?:
Short answer: NO.
Long answer: You should ask around and wait for the opinion of experienced developers (I'll try to answer some of the questions regarding this aswell). But even then, I can't stop suggesting against it. There are lots of things you don't need to test to know. Like the fact unsigned PRX's won't load on official firmware, and that a custom IPL block won't load on the TA-088v3/PSP-3000.

Don't do pointless tests to see if they work, there are so many things that can be worked out using just theory, and there is no need to waste a costy PSP for that. Lastly, do not trust random guides posted by people with few posts. Wait for a more experienced member to judge it.

First of all, Download UMDGen 4.00

This is a portable application that allows the modificatation of a UMD image(CSO, ISO , or DAX file).

How to Rip a PSP Game(.ISO, .CSO or DAX file):

First of all, open UMDGEN 4.00 and open the game you want to rip(.ISO or .CSO or DAX file). UMDGEN v4.00 can open, and edit compressed games.

*(There is no need to convert your CSOs to ISOs or before ripping like you did in UMDGEN v3.50.)

Some games have all their DATA in one or two big files, (games like DJMax Portable / Monster Hunter)

If your game is like that then you won't be able to rip anything from it unless you have a special "unpacker" program for that game.

'Optimizing' your Game in One Click

Go to the 'UMD Properties' Tab and click the "Optimize" button on the lower left hand corner.
This one-click button will automatically remove the Update folder and the 'UMD Padding' saving you a bit of time from doing it by hand. This free's up about 100mb.

Removing Padding files in One Click

Padding files make the data closer to the edge of the UMD disc for faster loading times.(useless for ISO/CSO)
Since you aren't playing from a UMD, those padding files aren't needed and can be removed if you wish.
Simply press the 'Dummy Search' button on the toolbar and UMDGEN will scan/find and resize the un-needed padding files to 0kb.
UMDGEN will then show a message with the filenames of all the files that have been detected to be padding files.
*Note:not all games contain padding files.

Relinking/Deleting Video Files

Video files are normally ".PMF" files, but sometimes they will be a different types, it depends on the game really.
The files are normally found in a folder called "Video" / "Movie" / "Cutscene", etc. It should be very easy to recognize. You might have to look around in the ISO if the game has a lot of files.

Sometimes games will have a "bonus" preview video for other games or will have video files in multiple languages.
You are probably only going to be playing the game in one language, so you can relink / delete the other languages to save some space.

Step 1: Right click the english video and choose "File Relinker" -> "Use Selected File as Source".

Step 2: Highlight all the non-english videos and choose "File Relinker" -> "Relink to <>".

You will notice that the SIZE and LBA is the same for all the files you relinked.
Just simply repeat this process for any other videos you find that you want relinked.
*Note: sometimes the filenames will be shortened, like:
FR = French, GE = German, IT = Italian, SP = Spanish, EN = English, etc. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for these kinds of things.
If you can't find an english language video, look for a file with a similar name, e.g:
Video_00_fr.pmf <- French Video
Video_00_ge.pmf <- German Video
Video_00_it.pmf <- Italian Video
Video_00_sp.pmf <- Spanish Video
Video_00.pmf <- English Video

Sometimes replacing a video with the bank PMF may be a better option if you don't want to watch the same video over and over again.(kind of agrivating lol)
Get the blank video at the top of this page and rename it exactly the same name as the filename in the game (eg Video_00.pmf)
in UMDGEN delete the video file, now right-click in the filename area and choose "add -> existing files" and choose your blank renamed PMF.
Tip: once you have one blank PMF file, you can simply relink to that and save space instead of having multiple blank videos.

If you have the PMF decoder installed, you can highlight one or multiple PMF video files in UMDGEN,
Right-click on the files and choose "extract selected", choose a folder to save the files to and click ok. Now you can view the files in media player and decide what videos you want to keep and what videos to rip out.

Relinking / Deleting Music Files

Music files are usually in AT3 format, sometimes it will be in a different format, it depends on the game. The files are normally found in a folder called "Music" / "Audio" / "Sound", etc.
You might have to look around in the ISO if the game has a lot of files.
Repeat the relinking steps above / delete the files if you want to rip audio from the game.
Its EXACTLY the same as videos, only you select an audio file instead of a video file.

How to Dummy a file

To dummy a file and fill it with empty space, right click the file and choose 'dummy, this may work better on some games. This in a way deletes the file from the game, but DOES NOT reduce it's space. If you do this then you need to save your game as a compressed CSO/DAX to take advantage of the space saving.

Once you are happy with the size of your rip, choose file > save as > compressed (.CSO), choose a name for your CSO and click "Save"
Now test your game and see if it works. Have fun and enjoy your small game!!

Now moving on the LBA protected games and how to rip them...

Games that use LBA Protection..

A few games will use LBA protection. If you edit the game in any way then it will not start or it will freeze on a black screen when started.(boo!!)
A good way to check is to only remove the update folder, save it and try playing it. It would be unfortunate to do everything and find out it doesn't even work.
If the game won't start / freezes on a blank screen then that game has a high chance of being LBA protected.

Some games that use LBA Protection:

* Bounty Hounds (China?) + (Japan) + (USA)
* Bleach: Heat The Soul 3 (Japan)
* Cars (USA) + (other regions also?)
* Densha de Go Pocket Toukaidousen Hen (Japan)
* Densha de Go! Pocket: Chuuousenhen (Japan)
* Eureka Seven (Japan)
* Gripshift (USA)
* Hot Shots Golf - Open Tee (USA)
* Initial D - Street Stage (Japan)
* Rockman Dash - Hanage no Boukenshin (Japan)
* Taiko no Tatsujin Portable (Japan)
* WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 (USA) + (Europe also??)

To do this for LBA games can be a little tricky

It's worth a try though!:P

1. Open your game in UMDGEN v.4.00.
2. Go to 'file > filelist > export' to save the LBA addresses of each file in a text-file)
3. Open the SYSDIR \ UPDATE \ folder.
4. Highlight the update files and choose "dummy" and the files will turn 'red'
5. Repeat the above step to 'Dummy' all the other files you don't want (videos / music, etc.)

*Notes about ripping:
=====================
* You can relink files, but the size of the source file (the file you are linking from) MUST be smaller then the destination file.(don't try and relink a 494892489kb source to a 0kb video, it just doesn't work that way)
When relinking the source file will copied into the ISO twice, you will only gain the 'difference' in size between the two files.

* You can replace files, but they MUST be equal or smaller then the size of the original file.

6. Once you have finished ripping, go to 'file > filelist > import' and import the LBA address of each file you exported in Step 2.
Choose 'Yes' to force the files to use the new LBA positions.
You will get an error if you relinked / replaced files that are bigger then the source file.

7. Save your game as a CSO using compression (if the game lags while compressed, use compression level 1 insted of 9)
You should use CSO because compression will make the dummy file-size near 0kb.

It can take a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it, you can put quite a few of your games onto your memory stick.

[TUTORIAL] 30 High-Res wallpapers in 01-12.bmp (noob friendly)

I have created this tutorial to help people make a 01-12.bmp that will have 30 High-Resolution wallpapers in it, like in some of the themes that I have released

Firstly I would like to thank Vegetano1 for his support all this time!!

In the attached zip file you will find:-
- tutorial in txt format
- tutorial screenshots (for offline use)
- base jpg (used to make each image proper size)
- bat files (used to compile the 12 or 30 images into a 01-12.bmp)
- my batman 01-12.bmp(30images) and 4 (single image) 01-12.bmp files (use this before you start to test if your theme can handle it with the resources you have, also make sure your vshmain is set to correct 01-12 size and image count, see step 13 for this)

Things you will need:-
- Photoshop CS2 or higher for image making etc
- Hex Workshop (latest version) for hex editing
- Dynamic Prx Editor (by blessedhands) for hex editing
- your vshmain.prx file, and obviously 30 wallpapers you want to use!

I have shown the file names of the screenshots in the zip file incase the image host I am using goes offline or deletes the images

when testing the 01-12.bmp files included in the zip, you can determine which resolution is best to use with your themes without loosing any icons

open up your vshmain.prx with hex workshop

load up the bookmark for it
look at where it says the blocksize for 01-12
set that to 32766
and make the picture count to 30 if you are using 30 wallpapers

save and close your vshmain.prx

Now double click on (Merge 30.bat) to create the 01-12.bmp

it should be something like 959kb in size

put that in your resource folder and test out your theme!

NOTE: you can make the last image full quality! so you can have 1 image at high quality the rest optimized!

NOTE: some images may have really low colors like a lot of black for example, so it is best to avoid those as you will padding and copying a lot of 0s and it might not even be possible to do with some of them.

NOTE: not all wallpapers may work and may halt when you test your 01-12 in (Color) section in xmb, showing a blank white page, so that would mean there is a problem with that wallpaper which is stopping the rest of the wallpapers from showing

NOTE: I have included some test 01-12.bmp files(thx v1) in the zip file so please use those to test your theme out before you start, this will save you a lot of trouble and time. For example if you try the 300x171 single image 01-12.bmp and it displays fine then you can have 12+ images in your 01-12.bmp, but if it doesnt display then you cant use a 01-12.bmp best thing to do is free up resources, get rid of subicons, etc.

NOTE: you can also make the brightness -20 and contrast +20 for the images for maximum results and make it easier to hex later on

[Tutorial] Custom intro using Autostart V5

Hi, this tutorial going to show you step by step of using AutoStart V5 to run cintro
Delete your previous Autostart components, example config.ROE
Connect your PSP to your computer

We going to start with AutoStart V5
1. Download the AutoStart V5.zip and then extract it
2. After extracted, you going to have two folder that is PSP and seplugins
3. Copy and paste PSP folder to the root of your memory stick, click yes when prompted

**if you don’t have seplugins folder inside memory stick, make one**

4. Open the seplugins folder; copy and paste the AutoStart.prx into your seplugins folder inside memory stick.
5. If you already have vsh.txt, what you do is add this line ms0:/seplugins/AutoStart.prx into the existing vsh.txt
6. If not, just copy the vsh.txt into your seplugins folder inside
memory stick.

Next is cintro_390
1. Download the cintro_390.rar and then extract it
2. After extracted, you going to have cintro_390 folder
3. Open the folder, copy and paste PSP folder to the root of your memory stick, click yes when prompted
4. Copy and paste Cintro.pmf to the root of memory stick

Go to your PSP
1. Go to Game, then memorystick
2. Launch AustoStart Configurator
3. Select on Autoboot (NOTHING) by pressing X button
4. Select on PMF by pressing X button
5. Now, you going to have Autoboot (ms0:/PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP)
6. Press on R trigger, here you going to Enable autoboot by pressing X, Disable WLAN switch check by pressing X,
7. Exit the Autostart configurator by pressing X on Exit
8. Now, go to Recovery mode
9. Enable by pressing X on AutoStart.prx [VSH](Disabled)
10. After enabled it will be something like this AutoStart.prx [VSH](Enabled)

Exit recovery mode, then turn off your PSP completely by pressing power button for few seconds
And turn on again, hope it works for you, good luck.

Replacing cintro
rename the .pmf files you got to cintro.pmf and replace it
example, ff.pmf rename to cintro.pmf
place it to your memorystick root

tips:
It is easier to replace the cintro by using applications that let you to rename,cut,paste,copy.Example:Xplora..you don't have to bother go to computer to replace it, make one cintro folder then access it using the application and copy/paste .pmf to root, rename it to cintro.pmf.

it is compatible with cxmb..

okay..here is the problem..for people with 3.90m33-3 or lower, i think it will have some looping issue..i've just realize that cintro is looping in 3.90 after i downgrade to it..maybe its not compatible.

2nd edit:found that for some reason in my psp..running on 5.00m33..the kernel need to be 5.XX in order to run the cintro..

Things you need

1.RCOEditor
2.visualizer_plugin.rco
3.visualizer_plugin.prx
4.photoshop/gimp .etc

1] Open your visualizer_plugin.rco using RCOEditor

leave it for a while now..

2] create a new canvas with the w:38 and h:38

3] create new layer and fill with black

4] open any images you want as visualizer image and copy/paste on top of black layer[you can have the images filling the canvas but the results are not pretty, it will be on top of another,the example for good are below]

5] hide the black layer and save the images as .png format, now we have the first image done.thats the "[GIM]music_tex_led_red_normal"

6] Back to photoshop,unhide the black layer,now we have to do the glowing effect.Right click on the layer/blending options/outer glow

7] Hide the black layer again and save this one as .png too.
this one goes to "[GIM]music_tex_led_red_light"

8] repeat this step above for the blue and yellow.You can change the color immediately by chossing "Hue/Saturation" so the dimensions are still the same.

9] now replace the images you created corresponding the the color you want. Replace just like you replace the icons..

and place the visualizer_plugin.prx inside module and the rco inside vsh.

2.71 to 1.50 Made Easy

You may need to upgrade yourself to 2.71 for this...

there are TWO files to download

1: EBOOT.PBP
2. ROOT

I used WINZIP to "zip" them so you shouldn't have any issues (7zip or winzip...whatever)

STEP 1: Download the files

STEP 2: Use WINZIP to extract the ROOT file first

STEP 3: FORMAT your MEMORY STICK using SYSTEM SETTINGS - FORMAT MEMORY STICK (transfer any and all files to your computer that you don't want to lose)

STEP 4: take the 4 files you UNZIPPED from the ROOT file you downloaded

and put them on your EMPTY memory stick OVER RIDE if it asks you to!

STEP 5: UNZIP the EBOOT folder and you'll have a file called EBOOT.PBP

STEP 6: Put this eboot.pbp into your PSP\GAME\UPDATE folder

STEP 7: go to your PHOTO menu of your PSP

STEP 8; PRESS X

STEP 9a: IF done correctly, your PSP screen will turn RED

STEP 9b: IF it does not turn red (NOTE: I did this TWICE and it turned red immediately on the first try. On the second try it froze on the PICTURE menu. You can REMOVE the battery MANUALLY from the back of your PSP and then count to 2 or something (doesn't matter HOW long) and put your battery back in and select X on PHOTO again and it should turn RED

STEP 10: When you get a red screen...LEAVE YOUR PSP ALONE!!!!
It may take about one full minute...which seems like 5 minutes when you're sitting there watching it.

THIS IS A CRITICAL PART!!! If you try and turn the PSP off or try and remove the battery I would say you have a 99.999% chance of bricking your PSP! So just let it do its thing. And believe me, I know that it will get scary staring at it and it looks like it is not doing anything...but leave it alone!!!

STEP 11: your PSP will turn off by itself!! (it's now at 1.50!)

STEP 12: turn your PSP back on and you will get this screen

Some people call it the "blue screen of death" Just press the CIRCLE button and your PSP will turn off and restart (it did it to me twice!)

STEP 12: you can go to SYSTEM - SYSTEM SETTINGS - SYSTEM INFORMATION and see something like this

now that you have it at 1.50

I recommend using this program

you can tell the program with the drop down menu's you have 1.50 and you want to upgrade to 3.52m33 and click GO and windows will pop up telling you what to do...

This guide will show you how to create a 'Pandora battery' that can be used to unbrick a PSP
or Install Custom Firmware onto your Original or Slim PSP.

Pandora Motherboard Compatibility List (thanks to assassinwarrior for this pic)

* If 'Creates Pandora' is NO, then your PSP cannot convert a normal battery into a 'Pandora Battery'

You can check your PSP Firmware version by turning on your PSP going to the settings section on the left,
then scrolling down to 'System Settings' and pressing the 'Confirm' button.
then scrolling down to 'System Information' and pressing the confirm button again.
(The confirm button is the 'X (Cross)' button on USA and Europe PSPs and the 'O (Circle)' button on a Japanese PSP),

You should see three lines of text on the screen, the firmware version is the number listed in 'System Software'.
If you see ANY letters after the System Software number (e.g 2.71 SE-B, 3.40 OE-A, 5.00 M33-1), then you have a hacked PSP already.
If you just have numbers and no letters after the system software, then you PSP has not been hacked.
You can exit the System Information by pressing the 'Cancel' button (see the bottom of your PSP screen)

If your PSP has firmware 3.95 or lower or came from the factory / out of the box with 3.95 or lower,
then there is a 99.9% chance that your PSP is hackable using the 'Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick'.

If your PSP came from the factory with version 4.00 or higher system software
installed there is a very high chance it is a new model that cannot be 'hacked' at the moment.

All the newer PSP-2000 models and ALL PSP-3000 models cannot be hacked yet, but there are people working on hacking it.
If 'Pandora' doesn't start on your PSP and you just get a green light then you have the newer model slim which cannot be hacked yet.

You will need:

Windows Operating system on your PC and a user account with 'Admin' rights
A 64mb or higher Memory Stick PRO DUO (The total size of the Magic Memory Stick files is about 50mbytes)
A pre-made Pandora Battery (or a custom firmware PSP that can convert a battery and an original PSP battery)

How to Identify your PSP Motherboard Model
This program is here for the people who don't know if their slim PSP can convert a battery or not.
If you are not sure what motherboard your custom firmware PSP has you can use PSPIdent.
PSPIdent can show you the motherboard model number, then you can look on the table above
to find out if your PSP can convert a normal battery into a Pandora Battery (and back again)

NOTE: This program will only work on 'Custom Firmware' PSP, it will not start on official sony firmware.

After downloading the ZIP file, extract it and copy the PSPIdent folder into PSP \ GAME folder and start the program from the 'Game > Memory Stick' Menu.

In the example screenshot, the PSP has a TA-081 motherboard, according to the table above, this PSP is able to convert a battery into a Pandora.

First off you need to get the proper tools to make your AT3's.Just click on the links below:

INSTALLING

Now you need to install them.
First Goldwave:

1.Doble click on the Goldwave icon and follow the instructions.We will not start Goldwave just yet.We still need to install the codecs.

Atrac3 codecs:

1.Once you download the codecs unzip it and these's files should appear.

2.You can doble click on the "Atrac3.exe",or right click on the "atrac3.inf"and then selecting "Install".

MAKING AT3'S

We will open Goldwave now.A "Goldwave Help Window" will appear just click "OK".

1.Click the "Open" button on the top left hand side.and pick your song.

2.NOTE:AT3's can't be larger then 1:00min or more then 500kb or the song won't work.I don't know why.
In this case "SONG.MP3" is going to be my song.(It can be .wav,.ogg,ect...)If you notice my song is a little bit big so we have to make it smaller.

To do that you can grab the side lines with a left click and move them.Then we can cut the shadowed part by going to "edit" ,then "trim".

3.Now that we have the right size we click "File",then "Save As"and a "Save Sound As" window will appear.

4.THIS IS IMPORTANT:
[1]"Save in" = to save the file where you want.
[2]"File name" = you may name the song what you want.
[3]"Save as type" = must be in .wav
[4]"Attributes" = ATRAC3 66kbps STEREO(this can be in a higher "kbps" but the song will save in bigger kb.)

5. After saving the SONG

Making the prx:

Open Coldboot Sound Replacer v5.0 and then click what psp version you like
then click Browse and look for the .wav that you save then click save prx
and thats it

1. Type about:config in the address bar and then press Enter.

2. In the filter search bar type networks.http.pipelining. Be sure the value field is set true,if not double-click to set true.

HTTP is the application-layer protocol that most web pages are transferred with. In HTTP 1.1, multiple requests can be sent before any responses are received. This is known as pipelining. Pipelining reduces page loading times, but not all servers support it.

3. Go back to the filter search bar and type network.http.pipelining.maxrequests. Double-click this option and set its value to 8.

4. In the filter search bar and type network.http.proxy.pipelining. Once opened double-click on it and set it to true.

5. In IPv6-capable DNS servers, an IPv4 address may be returned when an IPv6 address is requested. It is possible for Mozilla to recover from this misinformation, but a significant delay is introduced.

Type network.dns.disableIPv6 in the filter search bar and set this option to true by double clicking on it.

6. CONTENT INTERRUPT PARSING

This preference controls if the application will interrupt parsing a page to respond to UI events. It does not exist by default.
Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Boolean from the pop-up menu. Then:

A. Enter content.interrupt.parsing in the New boolean value pop-up window and click OK

B. When prompted to choose the value for the new boolean, select true and click OK

C. Rather than wait until a page has completely downloaded to display it to the user, Mozilla applications will regularly render what has been received to that point. This option controls the maximum amount of time the application will be unresponsive while rendering pages.

Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.

A. Enter content.max.tokenizing.time in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK

B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 2250000 and click OK.

8. CONTENT NOTIFY INTERVAL

This option sets the minimum amount of time to wait between reflows. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.

A. Type content.notify.interval in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.

B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 750000 and click OK.

9. CONTENT NOTIFY ONTIMER

A. This option sets if to reflow pages at an interval any higher than that specified by content.notify.interval. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Boolean from the pop-up menu.

B. Type content.notify.ontimer in the New boolean value pop-up window and click OK.

C. You will be prompted to choose the value for the new boolean. Select true and click OK.

10. Notify Backoffcount

This option controls the maximum number of times the content will do timer-based reflows. After this number has been reached, the page will only reflow once it is finished downloading. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.

A. Enter content.notify.backoffcount in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.

B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 5 and click OK.

11. CONTENT SWITCH THRESHOLD

You can interact with a loading page when content.interrupt.parsing is set to true. When a page is loading, the application has two modes: a high frequency interrupt mode and a low frequency interrupt mode. The first one interrupts the parser more frequently to allow for greater UI responsiveness during page load.
The low frequency interrupt mode interrupts the parser less frequently to allow for quicker page load. The application enters high frequency interrupt mode when you move the mouse or type on the keyboard and switch back to low frequency mode when you had no activity for a certain amount of time. This preference controls that amount of time. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.

A. Enter content.switch.threshold in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.

B. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 750000 and click OK

Installation
========================================

Painless and easy:
Copy the RECOVERY folder from the archive to /PSP/GAME/ on your
memstick, so that you get a /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ folder containing the
apps EBOOT on your stick.
Now copy the official Sony 3.71, 4.01 and/or 5.00 Update EBOOT, renamed
as 371.PBP (401.PBP, 500.PBP), into the RECOVERY folder as well, or into the
memsticks root folder.

The Recovery Flasher will first look for the updater .PBPs in it's
own folder, if it doesn't find them there, it'll look at the
memsticks root folder and use the files from there if they exist.
That eay you can use already existing .PBPs you have (for DDC or
whatever) for the Recovery Flasher as well.

*** NOTE ***
The Recovery Flasher MUST be installed in /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY!
Do not rename it's folder or it will fail loading!
If you have other apps you like to use from the recovery menu, you

A quick story resulting in a quick hack job… LordLeXaT’s PSP battery broke, and with no money to buy a new one, he turned to his MacGyver box set to determine the best possible route… And the result:

What you see above is a standard Nokia battery (BL-5C) pack used with the original PSP battery control board. So now that all is said and done, LordLeXaT has a longer lasting battery than most of you, or so he says…

“The battery is lighter and has nearly 150% lifetime of the original 1800mAh PSP battery, and by the way, the text of the Nokia battery reads 1020mAh.”

We don’t have a tutorial for you, but for the most part, it seems straightforward. And please, exercise caution should you attempt this battery mod yourself.

So here goes:

Stuff Needed:
FakeCard v1.5 (DOWNLOAD HERE)
Fake Memory Stick (of course) {If you need more info about fake memsticks, check HERE)

First Step: Formating With Windows

NOTE: Before you start you need to copy all of your DATA off of your MS

1. Click "Start" and then "My Computer"

2. Right-click where your Memory Stick is located, and then click "Format"

3. Press "Start"

4. Press "OK"

5. Wait

6. After it is formated press "OK"

Second Step: Using FakeCard v1.5

1. Type in your Memory Stick's Drive Letter (ONLY THE LETTER) & PSP Firmware Version (3.51 M33 = 351, 340 OE-A = 340, 3.90 M33 = 390, 4.01 M33 = 401, 5.00 m33 = 500.. You Understand?).
Then Press "START"

2. Click "YES"

Using The Universal Unbricker To Unbrick / Downgrade / Restore Any PSP To 5.00 M33-4

This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating a "Pandora's Battery" and a "magic memory stick," which when used in conjunction can unbrick, restore, and downgrade any PSP firmware. Apart from TA-088 v3 units, the process works on all previous "Phat" and Slim PSP hardware revisions to date.

Requirements

* A working, homebrew-capable PSP running at least 3.X OE / M33
* Memory Stick Pro Duo with at least 128MB of space
* PSP Battery

Known compatible batteries:

* Sony PSP 1800mAh Battery Pack
* Sony PSP 3.6v - 1200mAh
* Datel PSP Battery 3600mAh 2X
* Datel PSP Battery 1800 MaxPower
* Sony PSP-280 2200mAh
* Atomic Battery Pack 3.6v 1800 mAh

NOTE: PSP units equipped with a TA-085 v2 motherboard or above cannot convert a battery to Pandora. Hellcat's Pandora utility should warn you beforehand if your system board is incompatible.

Installation: Creating the Magic Memory Stick

1. First boot up the PSP into recovery mode (hold R during boot) and make sure the GAME folder homebrew setting is set to 3.X Kernel. Exit recovery mode.

2. Insert the memory stick into the PSP.

3. Navigate to System Settings -> Format Memory Stick on your PSP. Format the memory stick.

4. Connect your PSP in USB mode.

5. Download Hellcat's Pandora Installer for 3.XX Rev 3b

6. Extact the Pandora Installer using WinRAR or any similar utility. Inside, look for a "pan3xx" folder. Copy this folder to "X:/PSP/GAME" on the memory stick.

7. Exit USB mode. Now navigate to the Game menu on your PSP and execute Hellcat's Pandora Installer.

8. Once successfully loaded, you should see a screen similar to the one pictured below.

9. Warning: this will delete all data from the memory stick. Backup any files before proceeding. Press R+X, and confirm with R+L+X to repartition and format the memory stick for Pandora.

10. Restart the PSP and connect it in USB mode once again.

11. All folders and files from your memory stick should be wiped, so create a "PSP" folder and then create a "GAME" folder inside of the "PSP" folder.

12. Once again, copy the "pan3xx" folder to "X:/PSP/GAME" on the memory stick.

13. Download the 1.50 update and save it as "UPDATE.PBP" without the quotes.

14. Copy the 1.50 update to the root of your memory stick (X:\UPDATE.PBP, if X is the drive letter of your PSP).

15. Exit USB mode. Now navigate to the Game menu on your PSP and execute Hellcat's Pandora Installer.

16. Press X to install a 1.50 firmware, containing Pandora, to the memory stick.

17. When the process is finished, press L+X to install the IPL. Now exit the application.

18. Connect the PSP in USB mode.

19. Download Time Machine 0.1

20. Extract the RAR using WinRAR or similar utility. Inside, you should see a "TIMEMACHINE" folder. Copy this to "X:/PSP/GAME" on the memory stick.

21. Exit USB mode. Now navigate to the Game menu on PSP and execute the application "Time Machine"

22. You should now be presented with the following screen:

From here, first choose "Install IPL loader on PSP MS boot sector," then select "Convert Pandora/DC1-DC4 IPL into TM format." Now exit the application.

23. Connect the PSP in USB mode.

24. Download Despertar del Cementerio v8

25. Extract the ZIP using WinRAR or similar utility. Inside, you should see a "DC8" folder. Copy this folder to "X:/PSP/GAME" on the memory stick.

26. Download the 5.00 update EBOOT file.

Once finished downloading, the file should already be named as 500.PBP.

If the file name matches, then copy it to the memory stick root (i.e. X:/, if X is the drive letter of your PSP).

27. Exit USB mode. Now navigate to the Game menu on PSP and execute the application "Despertar del Cementerio v8"

28. While installing, the application will ask you which key(s) you would like to bind DC to. Hold UP on the directional pad.

29. After installing the files, the program should exit back to the XMB. That means installation was successful and you are now in possession of a "magic memory stick."

Installation: Converting a Battery to Pandora

Note: If you have just followed the steps above to create a magic memory stick, steps 1 and 2 below can be safely ignored.

1. Download Hellcat's Pandora Installer for 3.XX Rev 3b

2. Extract the Pandora Installer using WinRAR or any similar utility. Inside, look for a "pan3xx" folder. Copy this folder to "X:/PSP/GAME" on the memory stick. Exit USB mode.

3. Navigate to the Game menu on your PSP and execute Hellcat's Pandora Installer.

4. Upon launching the application, take note of these four options:

Press O to convert battery to Pandora
Press [] to convert battery to normal
Press R+O to write battery serial to file
Press R+[] to restore battery serial

First, you will want to press R+O to backup your battery serial. If for any reason you'd like to convert your battery back to normal in the future, press R+[] to restore the battery serial. This is the preferred method for restoring your battery back to its previous state.

If by chance you forgot to back up the battery serial and still would like to convert your battery back to normal, choose the second option by pressing [].

Once you're ready, press O to convert your battery to Pandora.

5. You now are in possession of a Pandora Battery. Booting a PSP with this battery inserted will boot to service mode instead of the normal PSP XMB.

Usage: Unbrick / Downgrade / Restore Any PSP

Note: If you are performing the following steps on the same PSP you used to create the battery with make sure to remove and then reinsert the battery.

1. While holding UP on the directional pad, boot the PSP with a magic memory stick and the Pandora Battery inserted.

2. You will be presented with a menu containing the following options:

Install 5.00 M33-4
Install 5.00 OFW
NAND operations
Hardware Info
Test M33
Shutdown
Reboot Device

Select "Install 5.00 M33-4" to begin the installation process.

3. Memory stick LED should begin flashing. Wait 2-5 minutes for the install to complete.

4. Now press X to complete the installation - it's imperative that you do this.

5. Boot up the PSP with a regular non-Pandora battery. You may be presented with a BSOD, but just press X or O to restore settings.

6. And that's it. You're now running 5.00 M33-4.

Introduction
This is a guide on how to make your own gameboots for you PSP. A gameboot is the little video thats about 2 seconds long that plays when you start a game. But beware this can result in your PSP becoming a brick because gameboots are flashed to the PSP's internal drive called Flash0. In this guide I'll be using quite a number of different applications. Ok, with that out of the way we can start the guide.

1.Find the video you want off of youtube

2.If you are using Firefox just use the Download Helper to download the .flv file. If you are using Internet Explorer open a new tab/browser.

3.Go to the site: TechCrunch

4.Once you're there simply copy the URL from the youtube video and paste it into the "Enter YouTube URL" box and hit Get Video.

5.Save the file with the extension of .FLV

[CYV] Converting Your Video Source
1.Install SUPER converter and run it or use any other converter that you know that can convert .FLVs to .AVIs.

2.For the users of SUPER the settings are..
Video Options
Aspect - 16:9
Frame/Sec - 29.97
Options - Hi Quality/Top Quality (Takes a while to convert with Top Quality but has the best outcome),

Audio Options *Only do this if you want audio, if not hit disable
Sampling Frequency - 44100
Channels - 2

3.Now drag your .FLV video into the gray box at the bottom and make sure it's checked and then hit Encode.

4.When it's done go into the folder where you installed SUPER and look for the Output folder, that's where your video will be.

[VED] Video Editing
1.Install and run TMPGenc Xpress. Your also going to have to run the crack thats included.
*Note: You can also use your own video editing software but the maximum length is 72 frames long, frames not seconds.

2.For the TMPGenc users, hit the Set Source tab and drag your video into the box.
*Note: If you come across an error saying that the video cannot be loaded, only the audio part can, you need to hit New Project then add your video.

3.Once it has loaded your video a popup should appear, make sure you set the Aspect Ratio to 16:9 or it wont be full screen on your PSP.

4.After that click on the Cut-Edit tab, now this is the hardest part. You want your video to be exactly 72 frames long, not seconds the gameboot itself wont even be 2 seconds long.

5.Now there are two VERY IMPORTANT rules here.
A - When you cut the video that is in front of the part you want, find the exact frame you want then subtract two from it, this will give you that exact frame
B - When you cut the video that is after the part you want, find the exact frame again and add 1, that'll cut off all the frames after that.

6.Now that you know the two rules, you can start cutting the video. Look for the two boxes that say Start Frame and End Frame. That is the boundaries of where you want to cut off. So if you wanted to cut off part of the beginning it would be 0 in the start frame and whatever frame you come up with using Rule A. For cutting the end you put what frame you came up with using Rule B and the very last frame of the video in the End Frame box.

7.Now to fix the audio, go to Filter at the top and scroll down to Audio Correction and enable and click on it, then a few settings should come up to the right.

8.Now click on Volume Change, then check Activate Volume Change. The default of TMPGenc is to reduce the audio to 95% of the original video, so all you have to do is set it to 100% again.

9.After you do that, just hit OK at the bottom. Then hit Set Output and choose .AVI Output.

10.The size of the video has to be 480x272, make sure the Framerate is set to 29.97 progressive.

11.Output Codecs must be set to the settings below for audio..
1.Video Output - Uncompressed RGB
2.Audio Output - Uncompressed PCM, 44100 Hz, 16 bit, 2 ch (stereo)

12.click on Encode at the top, and hit Output Preview to make sure it's exactly how you want it. After that set the save destination of your choice then hit Start Output.

[ESV] Extracting Sound From The Video
Open avi2wav, then browse for you edited video. Once you find that highlight your video and hit ".WAV" at the top left corner of the application.

[UMD] UMD Stream Composer
1.Open the UMD Stream Composer, it should be in..
UMD Stream Composer/bin/UMD Stream Composer.exe

2.Click on NEW at the top left. And create a new clip name and project name. After that click on next and then check PSP Movie Format (for game). Very important to do that.

3.Go back to the same tool bar that you found NEW on and look for Video Source. Click on Open and choose your edited video. Do the same with Audio Source.

4.Go to the very top and click on Run, then choose Encode + Multiplex then just let it sit till its done.

5.The file will be under.. My Documents/UMD Stream Composer/MuxWork. Look for the 00001.MPS file and drag it to the desktop.

[MTP] MPS To PMF
1.Open the MPS To PMF folder and then drag the .MPS file into the gameboot folder.

2.Then run the Gameboot Converter and out comes your gameboot. It should be named 00001.PMF, you can change that to anything you want with the extension of .PMF.

[FYG] Flashing Your Gameboot
/!\This can brick your PSP, so follow this part word for word. I do not take any responsibilities for any bricks./!\

1.Go into recovery by turning on your PSP while holding the R Trigger.

2.Go to Advanced then Toggle USB (flash0)
*Note: Make sure you have a memory card in or your computer will not be able to open the flash drive
**Note: 3.71 M33-2 has problems accessing flash through recovery so you can also use the VSH Menu feature by pressing Select in the XMB. Then set the USB Device to Flash 0.

3.Open the flash drive through My Computer. Then go here..
X:/vsh/resource/

4.Then just back up the original gameboot and just replace it with your new one. Make sure your new gameboot is named gameboot.pmf.
*Note: Any firmware above 3.80 will probably have the gameboot hidden. You could either make it visible again through folder options or you could just drag your new gameboot in replacing the old (if you just drag it in you'll be deleting the old one).

You Must know The X-Y coordinates In order to reposition the icons, clock, the busy icon and battery

Now lets start making a sample theme

This going to be our sample theme to make ok so lets start first by using the XMB editor

1. There are required file before we could use the XMBeditor these are The VSHmain.prx, PAF.prx, Topmenu_icon.rco, Topmenu_plugin.rco And the system_plugin_fg.rco (When loading these file Use the decompressed RCO and the dcrypted PRX) (all of this file are included in the download pack)

when You are finish loading all the file required just press load datafile

2. the result will be like this after you load the file

just put the file on english in order for you to understand it. the white box above is an imaginary line i made representing the XMB. the white line is sorta your Boundary anything beyond that line is out of bound and will not appear on the xmb

3 Now we are goin to position the icons. were going to input some values on the xmb editor.

First Follow all the value listed and when you mastered try every combination on it. Posibility is endless once you know how to manipulate the XMB icons

Note:
you could also adjust the speed of the transition of the icon here by inputing values at the icon speed for example adjusting the speed of the Forward-backward arrow to 0 and the up and down arrow to 700 your mainicon won move to its position! but its all up to you!!!

4. after that the result will be like this

you can see that the main icon and the sub icon is in the middle Its ok because later we are not going to put any icon on the sub icon, you'll see

5. if you like to change the color of the font in the xmb you could also do it here in the XMB creator

after that you could save it now

now that your finish with 5 Important on theme creation

Now open the XMB editor folder and you will see a "Done" Folder just rename it Into "VSH" and paste it to your PSP in "MS0:\Cxmb" folder

You can only do this once!!! i mean when you did something wrong or you didn't like the result you'll have to repeat the whole process so don't forget to write down all of the value that you inputed in the editor, You can't edit it also so you'll have to start over again (I tried it!!! but i think its a bug in the program) so you must be patient

Now lets do the icons

For the icon We will use this Picture

Just load this picture in the Photoshop like so...

After We Copy the selected Picture we need to open a new canvas
Click on New, width is 64 Height is 150 and the background is transparent

Just reposition the whole picture until you have this result repeat this process until you have 8 icons or 7 icons if you don't have the "TV" icon for Japan and Korean psp only,

now just save as .PNG format

Now we are going to put the created icon to your Topmenu_Icon.RCO by using the RCO editor

REMEMBER
Before you open your RCO files in the RCO editor first go to option and uncheck the Following:

*Dont compress images and models

so that all of your rco is compressed as a result

Open your the topmenu_icon.rco included in the VSH folder that we just put in your PSP

Just Click on "REPLACE" and put your created Icon. Just repeat the process until you reach the [GIM]tex_PSN I'll include the Blank Topmenu_icon.RCO which means there are no icons inside you'll have to provide one for it but i still encourage you to study the icons in the original topmenu_icon.rco

FCS = Focus icon the one with a glow
SHDW = Shadow of the icon
Just put a blank icon provided with the blank topmenu_icon RCO

Now Just exit the rco editor when your finish Copy the Edited topmenu_icon.rco inside the VSH folder you put in the psp ( MS0:\CXMB\VSH\Resource) Paste it inside the resource folder

Now Creating A Ptf for your Ctf
You need a 480x272 .bmp 24bit wallpaper, 300x170 .bmp 24bit Preview Icon and a 16x16 8bit preview icon

You could all make this in the photoshop except converting 16x16 8bit icon but i provided the program that will convert the icon you created in the photoshop to an 8bit icon that you could put in the ptf creator.

Then Put the Wallpaper

Then Put the icons

Now Just press F5 when your done in order to save the file

Now that you are finish we need to put the Ptf In MS0:\CXMB it must look like this

and after that just reboot your psp and after that this will be the result

and there you have it you'll have yourself your own theme!!!

Common Problem I encounter during Theme Creation

almost all of the problem we will encounter is in the end when the result this are some of my problem when i'm creating a theme

Some Icons are not appearing

answer: Make your icon smaller for example I had an w150xh300 Icon i want to put But when the theme finish I Only see is the "setting" icon. the main solution is make the icon smaller 100x150 will do or 75x150.

I cant See My Battery or Clock, or Busy Icon

answer: Make sure the icon you created is in the boundary of: X = -225 - +225 and y = - 125 to + 125

when i reboot it to create a ctf file it hangs and then it's all normal when i turn it on

I don't know if its using a non decrypted and decompress RCO but Jasonangel has this problem and solved by using a decrypted and decompress RCO.

How To Install Custom Firmware On Psp
This guide will show you how to install custom firmware on a Psp, with pictures every step,
if thats not enough there will also be video tutorials on every step. If you have any questions
or queries that have no been explained here, there is a FAQ section in the second post

Requirements
To use this tutorial you will need the following:
*The Original Or Slim & Lite Psp
*Memory Stick Pro Duo 64MB - 4GB capacity
*Computer With XP Or Vista
*Spare Battery (If Using Hard Modding Method)

Step 1: Making A Magic Memory Card

Firstly, you will make a magic memory card. To do this follow the steps:

Extract the file using Winrar

Go in the extracted folder and open the "RainMMS" Application

Click the button "Load EBOOT"

Locate the "Magic Memory Card" folder, then inside open the "Firmwares"
folder and select the "401.PBP" file and click "Open"

As shown in the image, make sure both the circled options are ticked

Connect the Psp to the computer by USB Mode, make sure you have
inserted the memory card you want to be made "magic" in. Then in the
application next to "Target Drive" it should automatically find the drive
of the Psp, if not search for it manually

Now leave all the other options as they are (or if not the same as the
picture above change them as in the picture). Now click the button in
the bottom right hand side to make the Magic Memory Card, as shown
above

During the process the application will act as it has crashed, but don't
worry it's not really. It should take about 5 minutes to complete, once
it has done exit USB Mode safely and click "Finish"

Step 2: Creating A Pandora's Battery
Secondly, you will need to create a Pandora's Battery. There is two
methods to do this, pick one of the ways and follow its guide below:

A) Using A Custom Firmware Psp
You will need to find somebody with a Psp with custom firmware installed,
that will allow you to borrow it for 5 minutes. Most versions will work if they
have ether M33 or OE installed

B) Hard Modding
You will need a spare battery, the battery you mod will be rendered useless
for "normal" use. Therefore it can only ever be used as a Pandora's battery
and can't be changed back. To do this you will have to take apart the battery
and cut a pin

A) Using A Custom Firmware Psp

Extract the file using WinRar

Open the extracted folder "Pandora - Method 1"

Right-click on the "GAME" folder and select "Copy"

Put the Psp in USB Mode with the Magic Memory Card inserted, then open the folder "PSP"

Paste the folder you copied before in here, overwriting the other "GAME" folder

Put the battery you want to make into a Pandora in the custom firmware Psp, then insert the Magic Memory Card

Browse to the memory card, then load "OS Pandora Battery..."

Press "X" to continue

Scroll "Convert to service mode..." and press "X"

You should see this message shown above, now press "X" and turn the Psp off

B) Hard Modding

You will need the following equipment...

A razor (or something similar), mini screwdriver, tape and the battery to modify

Using your razor score the slides of the battery a couple of times, then the front should come off like a lid, be
careful not to score to far as you could pierce the inside of the battery as it will ether set on fire or melt the
insides (I'm not kidding it's happened to me!)

If your finding it hard to get the battery open by scoring, use the mini screwdriver to gently wedge it open

Once you have the case open gently pull up the circuit board as shown above

Locate the chip shown above on the circuit board it
should have below it "IC04". If not don't carry on as
your battery will not work as Pandora's Battery

Cut the pin shown cleanly, in the middle so it is disconnected and
not touching any other pins around it. Make sure its not touching
anything as it will fuse the battery making it broken

Now close up your battery together and tape the slides, so that it does
not come apart in the Psp

Step 3: Testing the Pandora's Battery

Thirdly, you will need to test the Pandora's Battery you made, to do this put in the battery. If the green light
comes on and the screen is black, then you have successfully created a Pandora's Battery! As shown above

Step 3: Installing Custom Firmware

Now you have everything you need to install custom firmware on a Psp, to do install then
follow the steps below:

Take both the Magic Memory Card & Pandora's Battery out of the Psp

Insert the Magic Memory Card

Hold the "L" trigger and put in the Pandora's Battery in the Psp

Keep hold of the "L" trigger still you see this on your screen, once you do put
on your battery case/back so the battery does not slip out. Then select
"Install 4.01 M33"

Custom Firmware will install on the Psp, it will take about 2-4 minutes to complete

Once finished, press "X" to reboot the Psp back to the XMB

Now lets check that custom firmware installed correctly on the Psp:

Go to System Settings

Then System Information

It should say on System Software "4.01 M33-2" as shown above, if it does you

Now people that don't have a pandora's battery and you have a semi-brick today is you lucky day. Homebrew Developer, Hellcat, has just released an easier way to get out of semi-brick and install a fresh new CFW, 3.71 M33/4.01 M33/5.00 M33 to be exact, without pandora's battery. Its called Recovery Flasher, all it requires is an EBOOT in the recovery folder and a EBOOT of the 3.71 M33/4.01 M33/5.00 M33 firmware update. Turn on your PSP and hold down the R trigger, to enter the Recovery Menu and click the Run Program and BAM goodbye semi-bricks plus it's also an easy custom firmware install on your PSP without a pandora's battery.

Official Firmware Update for 5.00 (Find on your local PSP Site)
Memory Stick Pro Duo 256 mb or greater recommended (8 GB and more DOES work).

// Usage //
- Run RainsUltraLiteMMS.exe, if you are on Vista or Windows 7 you maybe greeted by a UAC Dialog asking for admin privelages. This is necessary for IPL Injection.

- At anytime connect the psp to the computer via USB, it should be detected automatically. You can also use a card reader, you will have to select the drive letter.

- Place the official firmware update file named EBOOT.PBP or 500.PBP in the same folder as the program OR you will be asked for its location during make MMS.

It says the IPL Injection failed - Retry with the format option. Some sticks including select sony and any fake stick might not work with the pandora IPL injection. I recommend SanDisk for the best results but many others work as well.

1. Download popsloader for 5.00 with complete files:

3. If prompted to overwrite files, do so to overwrite your older files inside the seplugins folder

eg. ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx 1 < marks that it is enabled in the recovery menu
note:
The pops.txt file is not included in the zip file, you will create it if you still dont have it inside seplugins folder

things you need:

- psp slim

- pointed scissor

step 1:
print your design on the photopaper using a good quality printer. the size should be minimum of 6.5in x 3in. sobrahan nyo para sure. like this one below.

Disable autorun in all removable drives

Disable autorun in all removable drives, includes CD/DVD-rom, and all usb storage capable devices (like mp3/mp4, pmp, usb flash drives, memory cards & your psp)

Why? As a precautionary measure against malwares(trojans, worms, & pc viruses; this wont help with human & animal viruses nor even the common colds hehe). Usually these malwares can immediately infect your pc when you insert the media(cd/dvd, usb storage devices, etc) and executes the autorun.inf. I've encountered them on pirated CDs (bought in streets), friends with mp3 players infected by internet cafes, and even a friend's psp. Imagine accesssing your psp's flash 0 while your PCs infected and starts doing havoc to you flash 0 hehehe.

I'm not responsible if anything happens to you or your pc, by reading this and doing these procedures, you agree that you are sane and doing this at your own risk.

How?
1) Go to Start Menu then click Run;
2) Then type "GPEDIT.MSC" and click OK;
3) Under Computer Configuration, go to Administrative Templates;
4) Go to System then double click Turn off autoplay;
5) Set it to Enabled while Turn off Auto Play should be set to All drives and not cd-rom drives.
6) Click Apply, then logout or better reboot.

Note: I suggest that you always update your anti-virus software, explorer set to view all file types(including system, & hidden files), and view file extensions(example mypic.jpg), Because, some files are in jpeg files, some are in folder but its an exe file, but there icons looks appropriate files, So be carefull if you dont know the files, scan them before you execute them, better yet, dont run them unless you need to.

Using UMDgen 4.0

How to Rip a PSP Game(.ISO, .CSO or DAX file):

Getting Started:

First of all, open UMDGEN 4.00 and open the game you want to rip(.ISO or .CSO or DAX file). UMDGEN v4.00 can open, and edit compressed games. If you don't have any games, you can download them from my PSP game thread HERE

*(There is no need to convert your CSOs to ISOs or before ripping like you did in UMDGEN v3.50.)

Some games have all their DATA in one or two big files, (games like DJMax Portable / Monster Hunter Freedom)

If your game is like that then you won't be able to rip anything from it unless you have a special "unpacker" program for that game.

'Optimizing' your Game in One Click

Go to the 'UMD Properties' Tab and click the "Optimize" button on the lower left hand corner.
This one-click button will automatically remove the Update folder and the 'UMD Padding' saving you a bit of time from doing it by hand. This free's up about 100mb.

Removing Padding files in One Click

Padding files make the data closer to the edge of the UMD disc for faster loading times.(useless for ISO/CSO)
Since you aren't playing from a UMD, those padding files aren't needed and can be removed if you wish.
Simply press the 'Dummy Search' button on the toolbar and UMDGEN will scan/find and resize the un-needed padding files to 0kb.
UMDGEN will then show a message with the filenames of all the files that have been detected to be padding files.
*Note:not all games contain padding files.

Relinking/Deleting Video Files

Video files are normally ".PMF" files, but sometimes they will be a different types, it depends on the game really.
The files are normally found in a folder called "Video" / "Movie" / "Cutscene", etc. It should be very easy to recognize. You might have to look around in the ISO if the game has a lot of files.

Sometimes games will have a "bonus" preview video for other games or will have video files in multiple languages.
You are probably only going to be playing the game in one language, so you can relink / delete the other languages to save some space.

Step 1: Right click the english video and choose "File Relinker" -> "Use Selected File as Source".

Step 2: Highlight all the non-english videos and choose "File Relinker" -> "Relink to <>".

You will notice that the SIZE and LBA is the same for all the files you relinked.
Just simply repeat this process for any other videos you find that you want relinked.
*Note: sometimes the filenames will be shortened, like:
FR = French, GE = German, IT = Italian, SP = Spanish, EN = English, etc. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for these kinds of things.
If you can't find an english language video, look for a file with a similar name, e.g:
Video_00_fr.pmf <- French Video
Video_00_ge.pmf <- German Video
Video_00_it.pmf <- Italian Video
Video_00_sp.pmf <- Spanish Video
Video_00.pmf <- English Video

Sometimes replacing a video with the blank PMF may be a better option if you don't want to watch the same video over and over again.(kind of agrivating lol)
Get the blank video at the top of this page and rename it exactly the same name as the filename in the game (eg Video_00.pmf)
in UMDGEN delete the video file, now right-click in the filename area and choose "add -> existing files" and choose your blank renamed PMF.
Tip: once you have one blank PMF file, you can simply relink to that and save space instead of having multiple blank videos.

If you have the PMF decoder installed, you can highlight one or multiple PMF video files in UMDGEN,
Right-click on the files and choose "extract selected", choose a folder to save the files to and click ok. Now you can view the files in media player and decide what videos you want to keep and what videos to rip out.(very helpful )

Relinking / Deleting Music Files

Music files are usually in AT3 format, sometimes it will be in a different format, it depends on the game. The files are normally found in a folder called "Music" / "Audio" / "Sound", etc.
You might have to look around in the ISO if the game has a lot of files.
Repeat the relinking steps above / delete the files if you want to rip audio from the game.
Its EXACTLY the same as videos, only you select an audio file instead of a video file.

How to Dummy a file

To dummy a file and fill it with empty space, right click the file and choose 'dummy, this may work better on some games. This in a way deletes the file from the game, but DOES NOT reduce it's space. If you do this then you need to save your game as a compressed CSO/DAX to take advantage of the space saving.

Once you are happy with the size of your rip, choose file > save as > compressed (.CSO), choose a name for your CSO and click "Save"
Now test your game and see if it works. Have fun and enjoy your small game!!

Now moving on the LBA protected games and how to rip them...

Games that use LBA Protection..

A few games will use LBA protection. If you edit the game in any way then it will not start or it will freeze on a black screen when started.(boo!!)
A good way to check is to only remove the update folder, save it and try playing it. It would be unfortunate to do everything and find out it doesn't even work.
If the game won't start / freezes on a blank screen then that game has a high chance of being LBA protected.

Some games that use LBA Protection:

* Bounty Hounds (China?) + (Japan) + (USA)
* Bleach: Heat The Soul 3 (Japan)
* Cars (USA) + (other regions also?)
* Densha de Go Pocket Toukaidousen Hen (Japan)
* Densha de Go! Pocket: Chuuousenhen (Japan)
* Eureka Seven (Japan)
* Gripshift (USA)
* Hot Shots Golf - Open Tee (USA)

To do this for LBA games can be a little tricky

It's worth a try though!:P

1. Open your game in UMDGEN v.4.00.
2. Go to 'file > filelist > export' to save the LBA addresses of each file in a text-file)
3. Open the SYSDIR \ UPDATE \ folder.
4. Highlight the update files and choose "dummy" and the files will turn 'red'
5. Repeat the above step to 'Dummy' all the other files you don't want (videos / music, etc.)

*Notes about ripping:

* You can relink files, but the size of the source file (the file you are linking from) MUST be smaller then the destination file.(don't try and relink a 494892489kb source to a 0kb video, it just doesn't work that way)
When relinking the source file will copied into the ISO twice, you will only gain the 'difference' in size between the two files.

* You can replace files, but they MUST be equal or smaller then the size of the original file.

6. Once you have finished ripping, go to 'file > filelist > import' and import the LBA address of each file you exported in Step 2.
Choose 'Yes' to force the files to use the new LBA positions.
You will get an error if you relinked / replaced files that are bigger then the source file.

7. Save your game as a CSO using compression (if the game lags while compressed, use compression level 1 insted of 9)
You should use CSO because compression will make the dummy file-size near 0kb.

It can take a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it, you can put quite a few of your games onto your memory stick.

Here’s how:

1. Click START
2. choose RUN
3. Type regedit
4. click OK or press enter
5. When the registry window appears, click the following on the registry tree (left side):

First: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
then: Software
then: yahoo
then: pager
then: Test

6. Go to the right side of the screen (under Default) then press the right button on your mouse (right click)
7. Choose DWORD value (press enter)
8. Rename it as Plural (capital P) (press enter)
9. Double click on Plural then put 1 as a value data. (Press enter)
10. Close the registry window

DONE!

If you think its not working just try again until it works.

How to put your CSO ISO Games In your PSP

o run ISO's/CSO's, you need a Custom FW, not a Sony FW. The FW must also be able to Run ISO's. 3.03 OE-C is probably the best around, in my opinion.

By default, IE allows only two simultaneous download sessions from a single Web server. This can affect the speed of your Web browsing, because you’re not able to simultaneously download all the objects that make up a Web page, so the page displays more slowly. If you could force IE to download more objects at once, Web pages would display more quickly.
A tweak to the Windows Registry does the trick. With this tweak, you can force IE to use more than two simultaneous sessions. A good number is 10. Here’s how to do it:

1. Run the Registry Editor by typing regedit at a command line or in the Windows Vista/XP Start Search box.

2. Go to

3. Choose Edit –> New –> DWORD Value.

4. Create a new DWORD value called MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server

7. Create another DWORD value called MaxConnectionsPerServer

8. Double Click on it and Give it a value of 10

9. Exit the Registry and close IE. When you restart IE, the new value will be in effect and your Web browsing should speed up

1.) You can check whether the card is fake by looking for Magicgate support. Genuine cards have it. Go to the PSP's XMB for either 'Photo', 'Video', 'Music', or 'Game' and press the Triangle button and look in 'Information'. Genuine cards should say 'Magicgate TM Supported'.
2.) The fake cards have regular printed serial numbers while the genuine ones are laser printed.

How to fix a Semibrick PSP

(I STRONGLY recommend 3.71m33 because with the PSP it's WAY easier to UPGRADE than downgrade)

After downloading and EXTRACTING - you'll have a folder called RECOVERY.

This folder goes into PSP\GAME

Turn your PSP ON holding the "R" button (to access RECOVERY MENU) and select TOGGLE USB.

Plug your PSP to the computer (USB etc) and transfer the above download "recovery" folder (for 3.71m33 or 4.01m33) to PSP\GAME (over ride if it asks you to),

Go to CONFIGURATION and set your "autorun program at..." to ENABLED

to BACK and then select "RUN PROGRAM AT..."

You'll see something like this

(I selected I agree, now take me to the program)

Select "flash new 3.71m33" or "4.01m33" whichever you downloaded above

There is one more menu. I selected "reset (format) settings as well". This will reset the TIME AND DATE + PSP name etc. If you don't want to start up the TIME and DATE again...select "do not reset..." and press X

Give it a moment and it'll start doin' it's thing

When done... "press any button"

NOTE: When you press "X" to shut down your SCREEN may appear turned off while your power light may start blinking or stay solid. You can remove the battery and then put it back in and turn your PSP back on and everything should be fine.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are downgrading your PSP custom firmware, you may get get this blue error screen

Just press CIRCLE like the screen suggests...and your PSP should re-start again and then boot up asking for the TIME AND DATE config. stuff.
